A "futuristic version"? :eh:

The resemblance is minimal, at best.

I don't really see any resemblance other than, you know, it's Rodan.
The FW suit has completely different wings, the eyes are a different colour and it's red.
It also looks kind of stiff, but that's probably because it's not really moving when the suit is actually used.

How does Rodan '93 look like a man in a suit when it wasn't even a suit?

I'm pretty sure that was a typographical error, since he made two directly contradictory statements about the 90s suit, one of which made perfect sense, and the other of which was perfect nonsense. I'll wager the intent was to say that the 04 design looked like a man in a suit, not the 93 design.

Yeah, that must have been what happened.

Well, at least I hope it is.

The 60s and GFW designs have that more humanoid man in a suit look.

xD

But I prefer the 50s suit the best

The FW design is a bit too "stylized"

I very much consider TFA to be half-assed. What a generic film which only fed on nostalgia, it brought nothing new to the table.

To me, he's never looked better than his first appearance.

To me

Rodan>GTTH-DAM Rodan>Final Wars Rodan>Fire Rodan

I like fire Rodan, but it looks too..........not weird or interesting?

I think Fire Rodan is the weakest design.

And quite small. Remember getting my SH Monsterarts 90's Godzilla then took a look at the rodan SH. Since all of them were movie height, alot of people were saying how small the toy was. hardly worth $60, didn't get the toy.

FW Rodan is my least favourite. The orange color does not suit him well. And the neck. That horrible, horrible neck.

I thinks he looks pretty cool, but if you're more for a more "realistic" look, meh, he's too stylized.

I also don't really like how the arms of the actor control the wings. The showa suits had string controlled wings... which worked a lot better, IMO. And the thicker bodies of the 60's suits at least hid the thick neck. The FW Rodan doesn't have that. The neck is too thick, the legs are too big, the arm-wings look weird, the color sucks. Even the chest plates look kinda off.

He looks good in motion, during his attack on NYC, but the suit itself is ugly.

I don't like the eyes on any of the FW suits, Rodan inclusive.

My ranking of the Rodan designs would probably go:

56 > 93 > 64-68 > 04

I keep seeing people judging the "DaisensoRodan" ('65) only on it's appearance in DAM ('68), which is how it looked after sitting in storage for over three years.

I personally really liked the look of the suit in MONSTER ZERO, but it was definitely looking kinda of rough in DAM (though, IMO, not quite as deteriorated as people claim it to be) The "banana beak" never bothered me, and the wings were much larger and more powerful looking compared to the more 'papery' looking ones on the '64 suit.

Concur with this ranking. Can't really beat the original, but the Heisei Rodan, design wise, was a hit with me. My only problem with it was the execution rather than the intent behind it.

Yeah, it's definitely too wooden in practice, but in stills I think it's pretty awesome.
