Aww yeah, The awesome machine Mechagodzilla.
His weapons proved to devastating in the first, but were deadly in the second.
I personally didn't like how Mechagodzilla was defeated in ToM, never trust a human cyborg to control your giant space robot.

Re: Powers Talkback: Finger Missiles, Eye Beams, Etc
Showa Mechagodzilla is easily my favorite version. This thing was just plain badass, and had some of my favorite weapons in the series. I haven't seen GvsMG in too long to comment much on the weapons' use in that movie, but I do have ToMG on DVD.
Eye Beams: Awesome. These things look very cool, and packed a hell of a punch. The scenes where he was blowing apart buildings with them in Tokyo are one of the highlights of the movie for me.
Revolver Missiles: Also awesome. I love that slow, exaggerated way he'd move his arms into position before firing. The insane amount of damage they caused to Tokyo is also worth mentioning.
Force Field: One of the scenes I do remember well from GvsMG. I never liked this ability much; like Halo's Armor Lock ability, it's really only good for blocking one incoming attack. After that, it just makes you a sitting duck and gives the enemy time to prepare the next attempt. A practical forcefield should be portable.
Headless Mode: I really liked this scene. Godzilla tears off MechaG's head again, expecting him to shut down like the original version... and just gets flattened by yet another laser. That's gotta be demoralizing, and a lot of lesser monsters would probably have given up and ran at that point.

I liked a majority of Mechagodzilla's weapons cept for the knee and toe missiles, I thought those where kinda stupid and impractical. What happened if Mechagodzilla kicked something and the missles detonated? xD

MG is one heavily armed robot. Not only are the weapons highly effective, but when MG spams them it looks spectacular. That headless laser packed quite a punch.

^ Erm...Uh....That's totally not true! >.>
Back on topic, I really liked the fake skin aspect of Mechagodzilla. Its kind of a creepy coincidence of Terminator went on to do something similar a few years later. I wish it was actual skin that could bleed to make it more convincing.

As for MG never running out of missiles, there probably is a factory inside. That may be why MG doesn't move all the much. Too much movement or physical combat could damage the manufacturing components, and then MG could run out of ammo.
And you definately don't want to run out when dealing with giant monsters.

I'm sorry; didn't mean to do that.Living Corpse wrote:Way to ruin the fun with theories.
I used to really enjoy the theorizing, but it reached a point where it became a headache for me.
Anyway... Has Toho ever done a cutaway for Mechagodzilla? That would be of great use to understand his inner workings.

Yes they have (and I seem to recall Mechagodzilla having a crapton of missiles inside him). Maybe over Christmas break I will look into doing him and Gigan, but those articles are quite time consuming.Rody wrote:Anyway... Has Toho ever done a cutaway for Mechagodzilla?
