Zero Pilot aka Zero Fighter

Got an English subbed version of this, and i'ts just amazing, Hiroshi Fujioka is just a badass and Kawakita's effects are great. This was his first effort for Toho studios and it's not bad at all, with lots of pyrotechnics and crazy camera work. Saburo Sakai is a very interesting man and I love Toshiaki Tsuchima's score.

It looks pretty good judging by the recent review on TK.
{EDIT} Whoops, wrong film! Both have the legendary Tetsuro Tamba in them though, so both must be good!

I haven't seen it, but Kawakita considered this his best SFX work. He's bragged about how very little (no?) stock footage there is, which is quite remarkable considering just about every Toho war movie is packed with recycled footage. The international version (called ZERO FIGHTER) was dubbed in Hong Kong and reportedly has alternate footage when compared to the Japanese version. But as I said, I've never seen either version so I can't confirm that.

^The international version cuts out the intro with Sakai talking about his autobiography.
