Godzilla Raids Again, guys. Just saying. One mediocre sequel doesn't mean there's not a great franchise waiting to be unleashed, here. Not that I feel like the PR universe established so far really has the versatility to do much more than it has, but still. Maybe they do reboot, or retcon, and something cool comes of that. We're more than happy to accept that kind of move when Godzilla does it all the time. We of all people shouldn't be so quick to slam the door on a franchise like this.

EDIT: And Gojira had a great, satisfying ending, too. We just don't see it like that due to having sixty-three years of hindsight available.

Man, imagine if the opposite happened with Showa Gamera. First movie...is okay...but the second movie Gamera vs. Barugon was an even bigger hit. So Gamera movies from then on were a bit more adult with much bigger budgets. That's so weird just thinking about that.

Regardless of the movies, I'd like to see Pacific Rim live on in the form of toylines, possibly additional media like games or tv series. I'd hate to see the whole property canned just because there's no more live action movies coming out.

My bad, I had been looking at the original film's gross and I got excited before I READ the title.

I just kinda feel bad for the franchise. Such a great idea put to waste.

Even though the pseudo-cool jokes were a bit generic, I still enjoyed the fight scenes a lot and they were way better than the trailer made them look like.
What happened to the idea of a series first planned for 2017?

Scrapped. I'm gonna take a limb and assume they couldn't get it past production.

Personally I'd like to see a TV series done with practical effects.

Spoilers in the link, but DeKnight talks a little about a certain character who would've had a huge presence in his draft for the 3rd movie: https://twitter.com/stevendeknight/stat ... 7149910017

There's actually some interesting stuff there. It's a shame some of that had to be cut.

Saw the movie sometime ago. Liked it but had bunch of complaints.
Spoiler:
Newt being villain was a good twist but it should have been him going insane n evil not somehow Precursors actually possessing him , all with different possession voices. Precursors are supposed to be in different universe, how they manage to possess him anyway?

Obsidian Fury was cool but he died early. He should have been leading Kaiju Jaeger drones in the final battle.

Mako died so soon. They didn't even bothered to show a funeral for her. When killing Fury, Jake should have said something like "This is for Mako".

Also it would have been miles better if Mako was the one piloting Scrapper and saving the heroes instead of Jing Tian who looked so out of place (When did she learned to remote pilot Scrapper anyway?) Even Dr. Herman would have better choice as a pilot than her.

Amara was a fine non-annoying character but it's weird how her backstory was so much identical as Mako's backstory.

Whatever happened to Herc Hansen?

Also the ending was just abrupt , kind of just happened.
Still I enjoyed it and I hope that sequel happens one day. Although looking at its box office I doubt its ever gonna happen in Live-action medium but I would welcome a animated sequel. It's shocking how movie failed to make even make $60 million in US.

Does anybody else consider the mega kaiju to be the spiritual successor to Destroyah?

Not in the slightest as I can't see any correlation other than "it combines from others" which is like saying Battra is the successor to Rodan because they both fly.

It's more a spiritual successor of King Godzilla than it is Destoroyah

I feel there is more flying kaiju out there than combiner kaiju though.
