So the Asylum is making this? Any guess as to how watchable it will be?

Well since the Asylum is behind this you'll probably want to execute yourself after watching it.

Interesting that this comes out about the same time as G:KOTM. Seems that SyFy is trying to steal some of Legendary's thunder...

And I just set this to record on my satellite/dvr.

Steal Legendary's thunder? No. Ride Legendary's coattails? Bingo. They're called mockbusters for a reason. Asylum makes cheap movies to try and ride the success of big Hollywood movies, not to compete with them.

So I guess at least we can assume that the Asylum has faith in Godzilla.

Sort of neat that Matt Frank worked as a concept artist on this but that won't save this movie lol
Didn't he work on concept art for the 2017 Power Rangers movie too

Yeah it was pretty bad. Not the worst Syfy original ever and it a huge twist most of the main cast actually survives! Of course the final battle is barely even a battle. Hilariously everyone keeps calling the monsters kaiju almost immediately with no indication of why.

On the one hand, better than I expected it to be plot and acting wise (not saying they were good, just saying my expectations were much lower on that end), on the other hand, not a lot of action. Especially the final battle, which I can barely even call a battle. I know it's a shoe-string budget, but the whole point of this kind of film is to see the two giant monsters clash, and they basically didn't in my book.

I did like how the starfish looking kaiju spread it's eggs (even though its babies looked nothing like it), and the smaller monsters were okay. There were even a few shots I would call legitimately good considering the budget constraints. But yeah, giant monster action was disappointing.

Yeah that's how all these Asylum movies are. They promise big battles between titular monsters and they typical only meet in like the last 5 minutes of the movie.

It was literally the last 5 minutes of the movie, and calling it a battle is super, super, super generous.

It was typical Asylum. I did like the big starfish kaiju, and feel that if it had been the sole kaiju of the film, it might have been better. The living mountain was barely in the movie, and didn't even get to fight the starfish. I seriously hope this doesn't get a sequel.
Kaiju are just like people- giant, radioactive people.

Megalon went into a bar and saw Gigan. Megalon said, " Again? I thought you gave this up."
" What can I say," Gigan asked. " I'm hooked."

It was on SyFy yesterday. I watched most of it. What a turd! A giant starfish that sprouts wings and FLIES?!? Damn. Makes the Japanese kaiju films MAKE SENSE by comparison! My wife didn't think much of it either...
