I absolutely agree. As cool as Vermithrax is, her influence has lead to a lot of repetitive, dull designs over the years. Some, like the Fell Beast and Smaug have worked (though I still would prefer Smaug with proper six limbs...) but others, like the Game of Thrones or Harry Potter dragons, not so much. It's in the name of "realism",nevermind the fact that everything about a dragon is inherently unrealistic.

At least my fears about KotM Ghidorah seem unfounded. He'll be a welcome breath of fresh air.

I've always been partial to "Wyverns" and Wyrms/Lindworms over the six limbed variety of dragon.

Probably my favorite dragon anything is Dragons: A Fantasy Made Real. I like how it's all about the dragons, how real it makes them feel, the different types of dragons they show, and how they kinda give each dragon (mostly) their own little story. For a reimagining of dragons as realistic animals it's pretty great with good visuals.

Dragons are the original kaiju, and make good monsters. For me, the dragons I most think of are the ones made by Harryhausen: Taro, the fire breather from Sinbad, and the Hydra from Jason and the Argonauts. I also like the feathered serpents of MesoAmerican culture. They are an interesting version of the dragon legend, and inspired a story.
Kaiju are just like people- giant, radioactive people.

Megalon went into a bar and saw Gigan. Megalon said, " Again? I thought you gave this up."
" What can I say," Gigan asked. " I'm hooked."

I don't think the guy in the movie was saying "Taro", he was saying "Follow!".

Indeed, I wish there were more good movies with them nowadays.

Considering how well his dinosaur art is, I'm not surprised that these dragons are just as well done.

I wonder what ever happened to Legendary's modern set dragon slayer film.

The wizard was saying " follow", but the dragon's name is Taro.

Man, growing up I loved 2 things. Dragons and Dinosaurs, so by the time I turned 4 and discovered Godzilla, you already know it was over with from there onward

I always preferred the chinese dragon designs, they looked godly and spiritual. Plus I was born during the year of the Dragon so I feel a connection to them in particular. The way they had those beautiful manes and rows of iridescent scales.

The first dragon I ever remember seeing was the one in 7th Voyage of Sinbad which is still my favorite. It wasn't until I saw something like Dragonheart did I realize dragons are commonly depicted with wings which I thought was weird at first - not to mention the talking. The dragon from The Pagemaster is somewhere in there too.

William Stout is one of my favorite artists in general and he draws some good dragons. Here's his take on Harryhausen's -

I really adore both Toothless and The Read Death from the HTTYD movies. Their fight is actually one of the best David VS Goliath fights imo.

I'm also pretty fond of the dragons in D-Wars, specially the final battle (that roar still gives me shivers)
