Looks amazing, like a combination of the Creature from the Black Lagoon , Bioshock and Abe from Hellboy . Comes out December 8

This is what del Toro abandoned Pacific Rim 2 for. I heard this referred to a while back as "his next Pan's Labyrinth," and this trailer definitely delivered on that promise. This has easily been my most anticipated movie of the year.

Hadn't been following this at all, but it looks GDTerrific. There's potential Oscar-level work going on from Sally Hawkins here.

What makes this all the more compelling is (knowing Del Toro) the fact that there's some actual suitmation at work in this movie. Considering the blatant Gill Man influences, it would only be appropriate to have a Ricou Browning cameo.

Am I the only one who thinks this movie looks skreeonking weird? Am I seriously the only one?

Well I guess I'll see it...but I can't stop thinking that the prompt of this movie was someone shipping the creature from the black lagoon and...idk any damsel in distress or something

Twist: the creature IS the damsel in distress.

So, uh... Abe Sapien anyone?

It's an interesting and thought provoking looking project. Del Toro does good work, and I think this will add to his folder.
Kaiju are just like people- giant, radioactive people.

Megalon went into a bar and saw Gigan. Megalon said, " Again? I thought ypu gave this up."
" What can I say," Gigan asked. " I'm hooked."

That creature seems to me little more than just Abe Sapien 2.0.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's a secret origin story.

It'd be cool if the girl manages to let the thing out in the end, and then he proves everyone right and kills her. I do kind of get the feeling there'll be some sort of tragic ending, in any case.

It seems to be an combination of Abe and the Creature from the Black Lagoon

I've loved many of Mr. del Toro's movies. I liked Mimic, really got an enjoyment out of his two Hellboy movies which I loved and got a kick out of Pacific Rim. Being one of my favorite directors and having liked all those movies, you can bet I'm definitely seeing this. :)

Wouldn't it be interesting if this is set in del Toro's Hellboy universe and the creature here is another of Abe Sapien's species? Be a nice connection.
