Translation: Godzilla Resumed Earth Battle

Post by LSD Jellyfish »

I finished translating Godzilla Resumed Earth Battle, by Daiji Kazumine. The Comic was originally from the Anthology collection, The Godzilla Comic.

You can read it below(in three parts) on my tumblr. Eventually, within the next few days, I’ll just put it in one big spoiler post).

Anyways, this Comic is really interesting. I like how it sort of serves as a sequel to Godzilla vs Gigan. It works well at having a good message, about the environment, that isn’t too one sided. Similar to a lot of Godzilla films, there’s a strangeness with Godzilla’s random new power, there’s aliens, and some goofiness. I like the somber ending a lot.

Enjoyed that a lot. The ending's strangely sad, never thought a frozen Mothra Larva would get me even a little emotional.

I think the fact that it doesn't die in a stereotypical heroic way (like being blown up or defeating another monster) makes it really disturbing. The imagery of the forzen corpse as well. I think the the artist did a fantastic job with making such an emotional story in a small amount of pages.

I liked it because it matches the darker side of Godzilla vs. Gigan and actually continues the brief ecological elements mentioned there.

Wow, what a great find! Thank you for sharing it. Surprisingly somber and brutal.
