So this is for all of us soundtrack collectors and fans. In recent years we have seen new, expanded edition releases of numerous scores, including Back to the Future, Independence Day, Batman (1989), Ben-Hur, First Blood, The Great Escape, Home Alone, Gremlins and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. This gave me an idea for this topic. Basically, we'll come up with movie soundtracks to continue this trend, scores that are in need of a more complete, official release on CD. We can include both old and new movies, since even the soundtrack CDs of new movies don't have the complete score, unless it's a bootleg, promo disc or something.
So, here are my suggestions:
- Vangelis' soundtracks (Chariots of Fire, Blade Runner, Antarctica, 1492: Conquest of Paradise etc.)
- Daimajin by Akira Ifukube
- Samurai Saga by Akira Ifukube
- Avatar by James Horner
- Because of Winn-Dixie by Rachel Portman
- Bridge to Terabithia by Aaron Zigman
- Batman Begins and The Dark Knight by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard
- Flash Gordon (1980) by Queen and Howard Blake
- Shinji Miyazaki's Pokémon movie scores, especially the older ones (Mewtwo Strikes Back, Revelation Lugia, Latias & Latios etc.)
- the US version of G2K by J. Peter Robinson
- Ice Age by David Newman
- Jurassic Park by John Williams
- Nighthawks by Keith Emerson
- The Land Before Time by James Horner
- Little Shop of Horrors (1986) by Miles Goodman
- Love Actually by Craig Armstrong
- Cast Away by Alan Silvestri (even if it has only about 15-20 minutes of original score)
- the US versions of the first three Pokémon movies by John Loeffler, Ralph Schuckett etc.
- The Polar Express by Alan Silvestri
- Bill Conti's scores for the Rocky series
- the Spider-Man trilogy by Danny Elfman, Christopher Young etc.
- the Star Wars prequels by John Williams
- Thunderbirds Are Go and Thunderbird 6 by Barry Gray
- The Transformers: The Movie by Vince DiCola
- Ultraman: The Next by Tak Matsumoto etc.
- the Wallace & Gromit shorts by Julian Nott
- Stuart Little and Stuart Little 2 by Alan Silvestri
- the first two Jungledyret Hugo movies by Anders Koppel
