Biggest Rock & Roll HOF Snub?

The Rock "Hall of Fame" is so bullshit, even bulls hate it. Their infamous bias against hard rock, metal acts is really really really painfully obnoxious. Notice how long it took to induct supposed no-brainers like Black Sabbath and Alice Cooper (who finally got in this year).

But the biggest snub if you ask me, still on the outside looking in (not even allowed in the parking lot), you all I assume already know who's getting my pick.

KISS

I'm not a "diehard fan" of theirs. I do like alot of their songs, but regardless I do respect what that core line-up of the late 1970s accomplished.

Not exclusive and not necessarily pair up, but there are different critera for any Hall of Fame, and I suppose the R&R HOF goes along this basic guideline:

(1) They sold a buttload of records
(2) They left an undenialable dent of influence on music.
(3) You can't write a history of that epoch without mentioning them.

So using this criteria, KISS passes all 3. They were pretty damn popular in the late 70s, scored several hit songs. Destroyer is a great album, I consider it essential. Their live concerts were legendary, and god knows how many kids who grew up in that era were irrepairably impressed by those spectacles.

I hate trying to explain a no-brainer, but otherwise how else can I explain that snub? I don't get it.

They've been around for 30-plus years and they still have a strong following. They deserve to get in. Not my fave either, but that is bullshit.

Do we really need a "Hall of Fame"? We already know which bands are popular and which ones aren't, and we all have our own ideas of what "good" rock music is. Do all these mainstream bands need even more recognition?

It's the same with Grammys and all that award show bullshit. Who cares? Just listen to the music.

The sad thing about it is that it exists, and as long as it does, someone has to get in. No; we don't really need it, but it sure isn't going away. Someone is always going to get the gold, and someone just as deserving is always going to get screwed. I like to see good bands get in, but I try not to worry about it much.

I hate to train on alot of yalls parade, but rock 'n roll predates The Beatles, Elvis & KISS. Neil Diamond was originally rock, then soft rock and now adult contemporary.
