Marketplace

Postby GCrusher » Fri Apr 27, 2012 6:06 pm

Have I completely overlooked a marketplace, for sale/trade thread in the forum?
I think would be a good idea and is common on other forums were when a trade is successful members post positive feedback in a feedback thread. This would allow members to help, one another and provide an option to eBay.

We already have a Looking For thread, and could add a For Sale, For Trade and a Feedback trade.

Arbok wont allow it. Doesnt want TK involved in some BS if something goes wrong between people.

Jon's Skreeonk Marketplace has become the de-facto TK community-preferred marketplace at this point, anyway.

You checked it out yet, GCrusher?

If we have a thread for people selling their stuff on Ebay then I doubt we will be in trouble. On Daizenshuu EX (Now Kanzenshuu), they have a thread were fans can sell stuff but they never got into legal trouble with Shueisha or Toei.

Though since there's already a "Noteworthy Auctions" thread, it's not like people can't just link to their own listings, with or without informing anyone that they're the seller.

Almost all toy message boards (also anime, cartoons and fan boards that feature media) have a marketplace. Some of these actually monitor the members selling. And if a member selling keeps ripping people off, the admins will ban that person (or someone who doesnt pay fast enough). It's called hassle and to be honest, with Clubtokyo, eBay and Skreeonk, why does TK need a marketplace?

It's not like members aren't already selling in the forum. Only that their posting into individual threads instead off into a single contained one. A marketplace is overdue. It would be a great service for members by saving them from having to pay eBay/PayPal service charges.

^ Again, the Skreeonk.com marketplace does exactly that, and Jon makes it incredibly easy to post items there.

Meh. Uncanny updates us on new items on Skreeonk's marketplace. It's pretty much our unofficial marketplace. An on site one strikes me a unnecessary.

Edit: Dammit CD!

It's not so much that, Frank.

Well, a little bit. VegettoEX and his wife are lawyers, I believe. So, with webmasters being lawyers, they can fenagle things.

Anyway: If TK became a marketplace, the legal issues that come with a marketplace settle in its bosom. Anthony, being the owner of said marketplace, would be the person that has to take care of all the legal troubles. In fact, there'd be so much he'd have to pay just because of things that go on with marketplaces (such as filing a claim for not receiving a product), Anthony would be in the poor house.

Overall, its easier to avoid legal issues this way. And not going broke.

I see where you're coming from, but I just dont think the whole "well they're doing it, why cant we" argument is a very viable one.

I can imagine someone trying to sell their old DVD-R bootlegs on a TK Marketplace and Anthony getting a C&D letter and a legal request to shut down the site..

Someone would have to monitor the marketplace.

And just because VegettoEX and his wife are lawyers means nothing. They could be real estate lawyers or divorce lawyers. These fields wouldnt help them in international copyright and business.

Of course YOU'D be the one to worry about that. I don't think anyone would try to sell that stuff. And if there's a rule in place about what's being sold, stuff that isn't allowed wouldn't be up there long.

Doesnt stop *website removed* from selling bootlegs.

And *website removed* isn't affiliated with Toho itself like TK is, so...
