Idea for Media Forum? 2 Movies 2 Weeks

Let me know what yall think about this...

2 Movies 2 Weeks.

I got this idea from a tobacco message board.

Two stickies:

Sticky 1: 2 Movies 2 Weeks: The Choosing (Month Day Year)
This thread will be stickied for 4 weeks. After 2 weeks the top two films will be chose, the thread will be LOCKED. It will contain a list of films by genre, director, producer, company, etc etc that people can chose. The top two will be the subject for sticky 2. You MUST post saying you will watch this film. If you do NOT post you cannot review in Sticky 2

Sticky 2: 2 Movies 2 Weeks: The Reviews (Movie Title, Movie Title)
This thread will be created 2 weeks after Stick 1 is created. This thread will be stickied for 2 weeks. Everyone who participated in the Sticky 1 will type a review. I mean a REVIEW. Not a 3 sentence/1 paragraph blurb. You must mention the actors/actresses & their acting, the music, plot, SPFX, execution. You have TWO WEEKS from opening of the thread to get the movie (buy, borrow, bootleg) to watch the movie and review it.

After the complete 4 week run, Sticky 1 will be unstickied but remain LOCKED. Sticky 2 will be unstickied and remain open. A new Sticky 1 will be created. After 2 weeks Sticky 2 will be created with the movies chosen from new Stick 1 and Sticky 1 will be locked.

The films in the list to vote upon will be chosen by a select group of people. Not just Godzilla, Gamera, Anime, blah blah (unless that's the theme).

Who do you think should chose the films? We're also going to need an active mod to keep up on the locking, stickying and unstickying.

Except everyone is watching the same film, pre-determined, discussing the same film all in a 2 week period. It encourages discussion of a film outside of "This sucks" and "EPIC WIN!" and half-ass reviews.

Not really. Any discussion of movies is going to have those whether it's discouraged or not.

I like the idea. Dunno if the mods would want to do it, but it would be nice as long as they're movies a lot of active members have access to (Netflix or otherwise common).

Then everyone can vote, and the highest two everyone tracks down and watches and gives a detailed thought-out review.

Mods would just have to sticky, lock, unsticky, re-sticky etc etc and keep the riff-raff out of the threads.
