Forum Member Interaction Idea - 2M2W - 2 Movies, 2 Weeks.

2 Movies, 2 Weeks. I got this idea from a tobacco pipe forum I belong to.

How this would work.

First, we would need a new mod for the media center section to control the threads. (I nominate myself since its my idea.) It would be like 3000's moderation when his sig shop became the official sig shop.

Second - two threads:

Monday: New Post and sticky: "2M2W The Polls Thread. Week of xx/xx/2010." The OP (mod) would create a thread, sticky it, state the theme of the month (horror, musical, 80s horror, sci fi, 80s sci fi, western, etc), suggest 6 movies, open a poll and members vote until Friday evening 8p ET. Voting constitutes you joining the reviewing crew. Whatever movie wins, everyone who joins/votes must either own, buy, stream or rent that movie and view it Saturday or Sunday.

Friday Night: Lock the 2M2W The Polls thread xx/xx/2010 and unsticky it. Create a new thread "2M2W The Reviews Thread. Week of xx/xx/2010." Everyone who voted can post a review. It must be comprehensive. Plot, SPFX, music, characters, acting review, overall throughts and a score out of 5.

Following Monday: New post and sticky: "2M2W The Polls Thread. Week of xx/xx/2010."

Reviews are posted for 4 weeks and allowed to conversate in said thread. When the month is over, the sticky is un-sticky and allowed to drop off.

Threads must stay on topic (hence the mod for the sticky), no spam or anyone would be banned from the thread for 30 days.

Isn't this sort of like The Last Movie You Saw Thread only everyone in the forum has to watch it, I doubt they'd hire a new mod just for this too if it goes to pass.

I'm going to say no for the time being, as I'm not sure how active the threads would be. If someone can prove otherwise, I might change my mind of course.

I think it'd be more interesting to see this for Toho-specific films, primarily because in that case it could also benefit the main site in contributing more reviews, which also would add diversity to the reviews more, allowing main site-only visitors to get more varied opinions.

I actually considered that as well, JVM. Only problem is getting anyone to "rally" for the non-kaiju stuff would be nigh impossible. Still, it's an appealing idea from that angle, although we will see.

If someone feels passionate about it, they can start a "trial" Toho one in the General Toho forum.

You have to admit, alot of people here watch film. The only way to see would be to try it!
