Cap, if you had merely posted a sincere albeit negative opinion, that would be one thing, and I'd defend your right to express that opinion. But you were saying those things just to get a rise out of people, and your posts clearly indicated that by the following remarks.

It ain't the best thing I've ever seen. *gasp* And I can get how you might think that about my post, Jim, but had I not typed those two lines, I'd be accused of thinking/doing it for those reasons anyways. This feels like that Simpsons episode "Homer's Enemy" where, by just being himself, Homer pushes Frank Grimes too far, Grimes goes insane and starts trying to act like Homer. "I'm returning to work without washing my hands, but that's ok, because I'm Homer Simpson! Give me a raise!". And in the end he dies.

You don't see just a little hypocrisy here? The only reason people got worked up was because Cap was bad mouthing their toys. Granted Cap gave them a free pass by admitting later that he was just doing it to harass them... but I seem to recall the time IR dared yo express a negative opinion about stylized figures and he received the same sort of reception.

I personally happen to find Bullmark figures to be ugly as sin. They're rainbow colored chunks of plastic that barely resemble the monsters they're supposedly base on. And you know what? I don't give a solid shit if they didn't have the tech back then, don't care if we owe the current lines' existence to them, don't give a damnable if the hideous Colorado were a ploy to catch childrens' eyes. They're hideous. With a few very rare exceptions (Gezora. Hes just so cute).

Do I feel the need to express that opinion all over the threads when someone posts a pic of a Bullmark figure they just scored?

In the end, everything Frank said about Homer was true. If anything, it illustrates how those who try to be better are often the one's who pay the punishment for others lack of human effort and empathy.

Edit: Anyways, there are.points on both sides. Even I have to admit to some trollish shenanigans yesterday. We really should all just agree to drop this silly conflict once and for all. See this is why the "Bullmarks are ugly" shtick doesn't work, at least for me. I LIKE the MonsterArts. They're cool toys. I have Godzilla and Mechagodzilla and will probably buy the Space Godzilla eventually. I have no issue with these.

What I DO have an issue with (and a lot of other people do as well) is the overdone (and in my opinion) played out level of hype this series is getting. People are seriously losing their shit over these toys. That one guy who lives and breathes these toys over at Club Tokyo, despite never spending his own money on them and only getting a MG through a contest, is a good example of how weird this all feels to me. Then there's this rabid belief that we'll get everything our hearts desire from this line, which is somewhat tolerable until the person who says "Now back up a minute..." suddenly gets attacked for not wishing for the moon and the stars. And of course this sudden knee-jerk "I don't need vinyls anymore! MonsterArts is here!" reaction that seems to get worse every week is disconcerting to anyone who has spent a lifetime collecting vinyl. I personally think people who are getting pissed at me for saying what I feel and being vocal about it just don't understand my point of view.

As far as Adam is concerned, he was given several warnings to not be so defensive, argumentative and snarky on my group. He was given several chances, pushed several people too far and ended up being booted. And now...surprise...he's venting here over and over again despite being told to stop. Anyone see a pattern?

Either way, I'm done. I don't want to continue this. Adam got his revenge and got me removed from a group I had been a member of for a long time, even though I wasn't the one responsible for his ban from my group. I hope he's proud of that, even though he won't own up to it here.

It's not shtick coming from you. It's shtick in general. A lot of people in the past have pulled that nonsense as a low blow to people who collect those types of toys. Monster Master was good at that.

As long as you understand that my opinions are genuine. I honestly like you most of the time and you bring a lot of useful knowledge to the site. I'm finished arguing about figures. Hopefully all discussions in the future can be kept civil.

One last thing though: I think its amazing what a positive chord the SHM figures have struck in the fandom. People who never collected Godzilla figures before are buying them. I feel like the insane hype is a good thing, as it exposes Godzilla collectibles to a different crowd. As long as its actually coming from someone who actually collects the figures.

They are cool. I like them more than the Bandai vinyls that I own. If I didn't think they'd expand past the first four figures, I wouldn't have bought the Bandai Destoroyah that I did. Knowing that something that is better for me will be released sometime in the future, and I go ahead and buy something less than what I want kinda rustles my jimmies a bit. Of course, I'm collecting for different reasons than everyone else on this board, you have to take that into consideration.

1. I don't think anyone thinks we're getting everything. However, its clear Tamashii wants to treat the Godzilla portion, or the entire line, similar to their D-Arts (Mega Man portion) and FiguArts (DBZ portion) lines. I don't care about what can be said about Bandai. No Bandai rep has (to my knowledge) made a facebook page that wanted to know what the people want, nor has anyone at Bandai made an account on here to see what we want.

We get a chance to vote for a figure to get made. One, that the fans want. Hell, Biollante may get chosen, G2K might be, maybe Orga or Titano. If we want it, we can get.

Save yourself from posting a retort that Bandai is super careful with Godzilla. I think every person that took a peek into the Survey thread knows what you'll say.


2. Why? You're not losing anything. Some of the more stylized figures I think are interesting, but if I said how I felt, I may as well just quote RZK. Here's an idea for you, though.

I like some Marmits, Gigabrains, etc, etc... I also like X-Plus. I don't own figures from any of those lines. I take part in the X-Plus thread, and am a member of the X-Plus group on facebook. No one, that I see, is as, some would say, hostile towards others as those from the former groups. I would LOVE to chew the fat with some in the Collector's Group or even so on here, but God forbid I post anything against them. [sarcasm] I mean, it doesn't make sense. They're really old toys and deserve respect, so why should a negative opinion bog it down?[/sarcasm]

Point is, not everyone is selling their vinyls off that participate in this line. Those that do... Why should you care? Losing people to talk with over the new lines? As I said, I'd be fine talking about the other lines that I may not find too appealing, because I do like some, but I'd rather not try to be the sheep in wolves clothing trying to hang out with wolves.

3. No, we do. We understand, you feel... Threatened (?) by a toy line. We (all should) understand your method.... But you need more of a method to justify your madness.

Interesting that everyone always says this. I've been on forums since I was 10 and TK is easily the most juvenile when it comes to opinions. And no, people are not "bound" to be cynical or argumentative simply because its the internet. Take Sevenstring.org (a guitar forum) for example..those motherfuckers get along, hell even the Politics & Current Events subforum is generally flame-free. You don't really hear stupid shit like "I can't believe you're selling your Ibanez for a Peavey! Don't treat Ibanez like second class citizens!", because posters there are able to grasp the concept of subjectivity and don't go out of their way to start flamewars over such trivial bullshit.

Still, I love you guys. And of course I love all the ridiculous TK soap operas, otherwise I wouldn't ever read this thread. "As the Kingdom turns.."

And no, people are not "bound" to be cynical or argumentative simply because its the internet. I have a similar problem in real life. My uncle lives with me, and coaxed me into getting a Fender strat. I like it, but the sound isn't exactly what I want, so I got a Schecter 006 deluxe. Love it.

My uncle bugs me everyone once in a while that I should give my Fender the respect it deserves. He's a big time old school fan. Old cars, old watches, old guitars, old everything. Yeah, okay, Fender may make guitars that appeal to some people, but not entirely to everyone. My Fender gives me some sound that I want, but not the roar my Schecter can. So my Fender has been in its case for, effectively... Months, only to be taken out about once a week to be checked to be sure everything is working and to give it a few strums.

So, yeah. Hopefully this can help explain a bit more.
