How about the right to equal protection under the law? You need a strong rational basis for treating people differently, such as not letting small children operate cars.

They should have equal protection under the law... Gay is a life-style, so unless they somehow became a race, and they are all illegal immigrants, I honestly don't see them getting worse or better treatment.

Constitution declares they should have equal protection, we have right to lifestyle also. So again, I honestly don't see how "Gay Rights" is really needed.

I mean, I need something big here, can you give me an example, like a news report, or a link to one where they were wronged in court?

It's not a lifestyle, it's a sexual orientation--something which, all the best science indicates, people cannot choose for themselves. Straight-oriented individuals can marry adults of the opposite sex, so following the equal protection clause gay-oriented individuals should be allowed to marry adults of the same sex, barring any *strong rational basis* for denying them that right.

Anyway, we can continue this in some other thread as the whine between RZK and myself is basically resolved. We don't really need to clutter this thread with a debate best suited for its own topic.

Wait, wait, before we end this, can I get one thing straight, you are saying sexual orientation is not a life-style? Right? But I can give one of my 5-minute-stupid-small examples-o-rama to this. My sexual-orientation, is of course, I like women, but I can easily say it is my life-style. I make my life-style with it, incoursing it, so to speak. The life-style I truly want is what you see in the movies, house, wife, 2 children, a job. See, my life-style includes a wife. That's just a domestic lifestyle, it has little to do with sexual orientation and more about living in a domestic setting.
I could spend my entire life at sea, and that would be a nautical lifestyle. Banging wenches would just be a part of it, like banging your wife would be a part of yours. Truth be told, the Gays want the same thing you do, they just want the right to do it legally where ever they happen to land.

I know this, because I have a friend who was the same way. And an awesome lesbian friend.

Trust me, while he was straight Danny tried REALLY, REALLY hard to be happy but couldn't. When he finally got around to accepting himself BAM he was the happiest dude ever. In hindsight, there were clues from 5th grade on.

He was in denial. A lot of gay men have even married women before finally coming to terms with their own sexuality. It's not that unheard of, a lot of people actually make it into their adulthood, long past puberty, and still have no clue what their sexual oration is.

I didn't have a choice whether or not I wanted to fall in love with my best friend, Kevin. I didn't choose to feel the immense pain of coming to terms with myself and the consequences of that. I'll get to that in a bit.

Kevin is the greatest thing to have ever happened to me. Until him, I was languishing in solitude, convinced that I was alone at an almost spiritual level. So, you think I would just chose to give this up to be in love with him? To have homosexual thoughts and feelings? Do you think I would have?

Now, do you think I would enjoy seeing him get involved with a girl? And have my psyche unravel when they became intimate in the room next to mine? How I could hear ever moan, sigh, and sweet nothing. You think I would chosen to go down a path that would provide such pain?

Now, with a family that has a brother that calls people faggots and hates gay people. A mother that is intolerant to most people. And a father who is a racist and bigot...Do you think I would have chosen to be bisexual in a family like that? My brother and mother know, yes. My father? I never told him. He died before I could tell him. Do you think I would have chosen such an outcome?
