I don't know why printing "America" and "Japan" in Japanese pisses me off, it just does.

Yeah I almost responded to that. I feel the same way you do.

My problem with the ignore feature is 1) you can still see that someone posted something and 2) if someone quotes what you're trying to ignore you'll see what they said anyway.

^ You two are seriously going to jump on this guy because of an eccentric but completely harmless thing like that in his first post? I'm sorry, but that's really sad. Let him get his foot in the damn door and make a few more posts before you decide to chase him away.

Yeah, I mean, it's just unnecessary, and comes off as pretentious.

They haven't "jumped on him." They're just whining about something they didn't like. Which is, ya know, the whole point of this thread. It's not like they outright attacked him.

Im really sick of people jumping on new members like theyre all morons, bots or under-aged users.

Just because they dont post like you, doesnt mean theyre beneath you. If youve nothing better to do at TK is sign on, see a post by a new member and bitch about it here, then I suggest you get off TK and go outside.

SO sick of it.

No, but whining about something so small still seems unneccesary. And if he'd happen to read this, it amounts to the same thing as attacking him. Again, he should be allowed to establish himself here before people jump to conclusions or bash him. And this goes for all new members, unless their first post is something exceptionally wrong/stupid/etc.

What conclusions did they jump to? I didn't see any. They're whining about a member, and that's what this thread allows for. They also didn't "bash" him. They said they didn't like something he did. If he reads this, then he should understand that any member can be whined about here regardless of what they do. It doesn't reflect the perspective of all TK members. If a member does something to irritate you, regardless of how long they've been here, you have the right to whine about it in this thread. A LOT of the whines here are unnecessary, but I don't see you complaining about every time someone whines about a sense of humor or an opinion in this thread.

I normally ignore what goes on here because the majority of the whines are (from what I see) about established members that know how this site works and are prepared to defend themselves, or are legitimate issues with new members. In this case specifically, we're talking about a brand new member who made the slightly strange choice to type two words in Japanese. Is it really worth potentially giving him a bad first impression of this place and driving him off over something that small? I, personally, don't think it is.

That said, I accept that it is within their rights to whine about whatever they want to here. I just think they (and everyone) should use more discretion when doing so.

CONTEXT!!!

For the record, I wasn't jumping on him, or at least wasn't trying to come off that way. When I read that post, my complete and total reaction was "What the...?" It puzzled me and left me confused.

You wouldn't like me when I'm confused.

Ah. Well, confusion is completely understandable. My apologies for the misinterpretation, then.

I readily admit I have good days and bad days with my attitude. There are people at New TK that already know I might be an asshole, but Im still cool. Im Vegeta cool from Dragonball Z during the Android Saga.

If they quote someone that you're trying to ignore then scroll past their post? I do it all of the time, it's not that hard to do.

What if you don't notice that it's the person you're trying to ignore until it's too late, and you read their post without realizing that it was that person?

Seriously, you'd have to be paying meticulous attention to every single detail about that post, in order to just come to the conclusion, "Oh! That's a person on my ignore list! I'm just going to scroll past that post!" It's not worth it.

Well, you also don't HAVE to respond to people who you have problems with. Self-control is just as good an option as the ignore button.

I've said this before, but I typically read what is said before I read who said it. I'll skip the name of the person for a moment, read what the person said, and then find out who said it. So if I have someone on my ignore list, and someone quotes someone else from my ignore list, I'll read their quote before I realize that it's said person on my ignore list, rendering the ignore list kinda pointless.
