I love first Aboras paintjob so strange yet charming. King Crab is my favorite of this group, surpisely I got mine with a tag for $10 lol
Re: The Ultimate 1991-1993 Bandai Ultramonster Checklist
YES!!! I need to get one of these. One of the most ridiculous monster suits EVER. And with such refined taste!Jomei wrote:Gamakujira is the bomb. Gotta get one.
And Seagorath is incredibly detailed and really sticks out among the other early 90s releases.

Definitely. I love that figure.Jomei wrote:Gamakujira is the bomb.
Love that Mecha-Baltan. I've always wondered why they chose to make it. Not complaining, though, being a huge Baltan fan.

Damn... you really make me sad. Your write-ups made me realize just how many of those cool old figures I'm actually still missing...

Are you going to do a similiar post for new ultra monsters released after 1993? I'd love to see that as well.
To all you dub preservationists, my friends, you have my eternal thanks . Never stop what you do, you are amazing!

Re: The Ultimate 1991-1993 Bandai Ultramonster Checklist
If you don't mind Legion: I have all the monsters from the sublines of Cosmos, Nexus, Max, Mebius (here I'm just missing the two limited boxed HMV figures) and I have every monster publicly available from the 2007 game-card figure series onwards until today plus almost all exclusive figures that were released during that time. So I might continue the listing with Cosmos monsters in a seperate thread on your behalf then?
Just be told in advance, that I can't take much comparison photos, since I don't own many pre-1994 (white tag) figures and all the stuff is boxed up in the attic, so I'll use archived pictures I took a while back, just for the notes.

Legion1979, excellent job on putting all that together. A great source for Ultra collectors to go by online. There are a few exclusives and specials that were released in 1991-93. Hope this next guy wasn't one of your bonus post. If so oops.
1993 Bandai "Grand King" (Ultraman Festival Tsuburaya 30th Anniversary)
Series: Tsuburaya 30th Anniversary Ultra Monster Series
Made In: Japan
Material: Black Vinyl Glitter
Height: Approx 14 cm
Released: 1993
Original Price: 600 yen
This is the second release of this mold. This reissue was released for the 1993 Ultraman Festival as a limited edition exclusive to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Tsuburaya Productions. This figure was 1 of only 7 different figures released for that event with this special 30th Anniversary tag. This figure was the only standard 6 inch exclusive release at the festival. The other 6 were of larger size.
Photo for comparison of the 3rd reissue released in 2009 under the Ultra Monster Series EX
Sorry the comparision photo are not both together in 1 photo. But I took these photos awhile ago. And to go searching for the figures in my pile of toy junk that is packed away is difficult.

I didn't even know they did a Dodongo figure. Hmmm. It's pretty damned cool.

I got my Dodongo for free. While I dislike the head pose, I'm very glad he at least got a 6" figure. Happy to own it.
That Alien Vira (Bira?) has always fascinated me. Such a unique figure.

Re: The Ultimate 1991-1993 Bandai Ultramonster Checklist
theres a tiny candy version by bandai of dodongo, from one of those "versus" sets that come with two figures
the sculpt and paint are superior in everyway, ill try to get a picture when i get a chance to show you guys what bandai shouldve done for the 6 inch bandai
granted its quite a bit newer though

Re: The Ultimate 1991-1993 Bandai Ultramonster Checklist
The Yapool is a pretty damn near perfect sculpt for the time it is made.
It is a simple story. There is nothing that brings me happiness. Be it believing in others or them believe in me, it did not matter.
What others called happiness simply did not bring me joy.

Re: The Ultimate 1991-1993 Bandai Ultramonster Checklist
I've always wanted to collect the Versus series (Shokugan??) Because of how mice the sculpts are. They're a pain in the ass to track down. I saw the Dodongo a little while ago, but he wasn't in the vs. sets. One guy has them on ebay (including monsters like Gesura and Magular!) But he's charging around 15 each w/shipping.Orgasmatron wrote:theres a tiny candy version by bandai of dodongo, from one of those "versus" sets that come with two figures

Anyone know a reliable source for these figures?

When Saga came out there was a set released with mini versions of Earthtron, Gomess, and Gubira(vs. Ultramen of course). I didn't want to buy the whole set, but I wanted those three in particular. Oh well...
