"Order" links on Godzilla comics reviews

Postby RaymondBurr » Sat Jul 28, 2012 8:26 pm

I noticed that the "Order" link in the review pages for the Godzilla comics connects to Amazon.com. Could we also include a link to the Digital downloads? Comixology offers this service, here is the link to order Godzilla #3:

Comixology's search engine has got to be the worst I've ever used on a website. You type in Godzilla and it says "Cannot be found"...despite the above link for Godzilla #3 on their site. In fact, even if you click on the "Godzilla" tag from the above page, it just takes to you Comixology's main page with all their titles for sales (with Godzilla no where to be found)....how in hell do you find Godzilla comics on this damn website???! Terrible search engine!

I think Comixology might have an issue with that. And maybe Toho.

Hi Ebirahsmeg1! Are you searching from their Digital Homepage or from the Print Comics page? I've found that the Print Site can offer either too few results (default search is for new comics this week, which means it will return No Results often), or too many results (unchecking the default search leads to a search of all product within at least the last six months, both print and merchandise). However, I have found the Digital Comics site to be a breeze, very user friendly.

http://www.comixology.com will take you to the Grey-scheme Digital Comics page. A search of 'godzilla' should yield the following:

Providing a link to Comixology's listings will not present a problem in either case.

If Toho Kingdom reviews aim to offer helpful links for readers to order comic product, then links to comic book retailers like Graham Cracker Comics, Discount Comic Book Service, and Thing From Another World would be better options than Amazon, which doesn't directly deal in comics, aside from collected editions. Digital comics are a natural extension, and very convenient too :) I would be happy to help with this, if I can offer any assistance. Is there someone in particular at Toho Kingdom I should get in touch with?

I think one of the issues with linking to a sight like Comixology, is the material might not be available after a period of time. Amazon listings never disappear, even if the item sells out. Also, Amazon links offer some material information.

Also, to download any comics from Comixology, you have to be a paying member of the site.

Comixology listings do not expire, but are permament like Amazon's listings; likewise, as digital product, they are never out of stock. This is probably the biggest benefit to consumers--when the comic sells out at your local shop, you can feed your compulsion with an instant purchase :) And like Amazon, Comixology inlcudes info on author, publisher, summary, etc.

This is not true. Comixology operates like Amazon: you have to sign in to an account to order, so the product can be delivered/accessed; but there is no fee to open an account.

My point is that a link (any link) to a Digital version of the comic would be very helpful on the Toho Kingdom comic reviews. There is an "Order" category specifically included with each review to help readers purchase the book. Digital purchases are the quickest and most convenient of all (I prefer hard copies myself, but will download in a pinch). I'm not suggesting that Amazon be replaced, but just that we provide both options, print and digital. Why wouldn't we provide the readers with these options, especially when the "Order" info links are already listed?

All order links on the site are done through Amazon. In times past we use to use other services, such as Yesasia, but it got to be too much of a headache in terms of contracts and... well Amazon's system is just so easy.

So while it's a valid point, I will just state that we don't plan to expand beyond Amazon in the near future.
