I'm doing a series of Ultra Kaiju/Seijin redesigns for a potential larger project this summer. I'm doing little pen sketches before I sculpt them. Here's Magma:

I also have redesigns of Zetton, Baltan, Jamila, Dada, and Babalou, just not on hand at the moment.

So here's a cleaned up version of my Rhedosaurus that I took over to Photoshop to paint and shade.

Man, he'd look amazing as an action figure. I wonder if any dashingly handsome sculptors are planning to turn this design into an action figure with multiple points of articulation

Soon, the Beast shall awaken from his 2D slumber by a Direktor..

And the Beast will be driven only by his hunger to be displayed on a shelf in 3 whole dimensions

Yeah, still not great. Im not sure how recent this is though.
Wonder if he is still a terrible person. IDK. He still has me blocked so...

This one is good. Simple, and nothing too extravagant or outlandish. Kinda reminds me of Kong from the concept art of the ‘33 film.

A rather... unique look you could say. Follows the more gorilla route of the ‘05 film, but w/ a bit more of a monstrosity-ness to it. If that makes sense.

This design has a more adolescent/innocence to it, less battle-scarred than the usual approach to Kong. Like we’re seeing Kong in his early years before his rise to being a ‘king’. Idk, that’s just what I think.

This one is interesting as typically, that I’ve noticed anyways, whenever someone decides to redesign Kong he’s in a fighting stance or expressing aggression or showing off his ferocity. Here though, it’s seems to be a more nice and calm moment. Him in between his many battles, just sitting there and eating. Which contrasts his rather intimidating and scarred/battered appearance. Nice little detail of Kong’s electrical power if you look closely.

I like it. If they had the budget for a full stop motion creature like they originally planned, this (in my mind) would be close to that might’ve looked like design wise.

I definitely like the 4th one the best. Kong is a hard kaiju to redesign, considering he's just a big monke.
Number 2 I find funny cause the woman has the anatomy of a man with boobs and the man has the anatomy of a tumor. Looks like Matt Frank's Matango with human skin.

Disagree, The Rhedosaurus has a very unique design. Simple does not always mean generic.

And yet he almost always gets reinterpreted the same way, T-rex head, generic Dino body, crocodile tail.
