(only kidding. I love it too.)
Ok, so let's talk about what makes "a monster" so we can discuss whether or not Biollante is "on the disk" or not.
Monsters in GStE are made up of several parts:
1 - Skeleton, Texture, and Joint data. These were created by our modeler / riggers.
2 - Animation data. This was by far the biggest part of each monster - 200 animations or so for each character. We had a slew of animators to create these.
3 - Audio data. Much of this was provided by Toho, but we had to get creative and piece together some of our own / remix existing sounds.
4 - Effects data. Most monsters had a beam, some had secondary projectiles as well. Some monsters had some other effects - Biollante had a dirt spray effect a bit like Megalon's burrow effect, for when her tentacle's detached.
5 - The monster file. This was the thing that specified how player controls manipulated and called animations / effects. (Creating these monster files was my primary responsibility for all three games.)
So. It was decided a month (maybe 6 weeks) before we shipped the game that Biollante would be cut. At first we just disabled her from the menu. I, rather irresponsibly, hooked up a code to access her even without the menu. The lead programmer saw her in the game, got very upset (rightfully so!), and deleted all her files from the database, so that she was absolutely gone.
When he did that, he simply deleted the "Biollante" folder, which contained elements #1,2,5 from the above list. This made Biollante absolutely not-playable in any form. This was done on our servers, long before any disks were created.
A while after the game shipped, someone claimed to have looked at the file database on the disk with some hack, and saw "Biollante.edf" This is entirely plausible, as we almost certainly didn't remove Biollante's Acid Sap spray effect defnition from the effects folder. There was also a picture of Biollante that ran in a magazine from an interview which took place before we cut her, and those two things were enough to create an ongoing rumor that Biollante was, in some way playable.
But she's not.
Your right, some how some one got the Unleashed Model (which prior to this, I did not ever seen since I only have a 360, and a PS2) into the game, and also added some codes (I believe some of the codes are very different than STE) so yeah, apparently its just some troll trolling basically with a self claimed biollante included patch
Also Mr. Strange, do you have a video recording device? Is it possible you can show us off how STE Biollante works? (a gameplay demenstration basically, so we can at least be satisfied on what she looks like (even though Unleashed has her, I still like STE more))
