My Old Videos: 2007-2008

Postby Space Hunter M » Thu Jun 21, 2012 12:30 pm

What follows is a view into the past; Nearly five years ago, a gullible young Godzilla fan plunged into the early days of YouTube, showcasing his crudely made animations. That fan was zillaboy07, and he has changed considerably. zillaboy07 (Now Space Hunter M), has mostly abandoned animating and views his older work with a degree of shame. Eventuality culminating on July 11th, I will showcase these films every day or so.

Day #1, Video #1: "Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla [sic]: Action Figure Wars"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gTUe02RMQY

Trivia: The second 'portion' (The one with FW Goji) was filmed in December, 2006.
Quiz: Can you spot another monster figure in the background?

Day #1, Video #2

Cool! Glad to know a former viewer! Anyways, here's vid #2:

Day#1, Video #2: "Godzilla Raids Again" and "Godzilla Raids Again the Deluxe full version"
#1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9UntlSGQf4
#2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEIOk3VDe14

Trivia: If I recall correctly, I was going to make a KKvsG-esque stop motion of Godzilla fighting the Giant Man seen in the video in favor of GRA. I even finished filming and animating a test scene, but I can't find the file. I also never fully saw GRA back then, so that's why the "plot" is so fuzzy. Not sure why I added that cheesy vertical subtitle in the revised edition... Also, the old "Pan & Scan" warning isn't funny anymore now that YT's widescreen. Speaking of widescreen, 2:1 was the Animation program's original export ratio, but it got squished when edited in WMM. Here's a raw color .gif file of the movie straight from the vault: Image

Day #1, Video #3

Day #1, Video #3: "King Kong vs. Godzilla"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stXYJwPZIzE

Ah, the minute and a half wonder that is "King Kong vs. Godzilla" (After credit music doesn't count). Godzilla wins this round, happy fanboys?

Trivia: This is the one I distinctly remember sitting down and animating. The Godzilla design was fun to draw and looks okay, but look at Kong! He looks like Kenny from South Park! Godzilla unwittingly manages to kills Sakurai and Fujita (Take note of the helicopter during the final battle). Look at the bubbles and gradient background at the end! Also, original upload date was July 26th, 2007, but YT screwed something up... Once again, this animation's original aspect ratio was 2:1.

That's all for today! Join us next time when we explore half-finished stop motions and family inside jokes!

Day #2, Videos #1 & #2

Postby Space Hunter M » Fri Jun 22, 2012 11:53 am

Day #2, Video #1: "Godzilla Squished A Man"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rh8pd5kkaHo

The first of two extremely short stop motions. That's my bootleg Imperial-esque Godzilla and for some reason the clay guy bleeds before he gets stepped upon. It's pretty awful.

Day #3, Video #2: "GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA "
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXkYhD29mp0

This one's pretty bad too. I just loved using those GodzillaTemple sound bytes, didn't I? I actually made a action figure fight a long time ago that featured FW Godzilla fighting that Trendmasters MechaG, but It has since been destroyed.

I'm sorry but yeah, the GVMG video was pretty bad!

Day #2, Video #3: "Three little mice"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGgiXUxsn-4

First, a bit of background: Back in 2006, when me and my sister had nothing better to do, we'd use Windows XP's sound recorder to speed up silly little diddies we came up with. I have an entire archive of this stuff. This particular song was composed either in late 2006 or early '07. I distinctly recall having the vague outline of the song in my head while we were cleaning up a room. I eventually decided to make an animated short out of it, and you can see the spectacularly horrible result for yourself above. ZERO. SYNCHRONIZATION.

Day #3: Triple Feature!

Postby Space Hunter M » Sat Jun 23, 2012 1:23 pm

Day #3, Video #1: "Graboid Eats Man"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgnMy_8YbJ0

Not much to say here at all. A poorly drawn Graboid eats a well drawn stock clip-art. Moving on...

Day #3, Video #2: "Godzilla's Heat Ray"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYDNLq3kNbM

Again, not much to say. Just me messing around with an overpriced USA X-Plus Godzilla and a pirated PS 7.0.

Day #3, Video #3: "Barbie Kid"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xz8jfDw6Jjc

A bizarre music video for Aqua's Barbie Girl.

Background: My version of Windows XP came with an earlier version of Movie Maker, which included brief clips of some random toddler. When I upgraded, I decided to exploit them to no end, as you'll see above. No idea what I was thinking, but I think it's actually pretty funny, in that "so-bad-it's-good" kind of fashion. There existed a similar video with some ending song from InuYasha, but it was never rendered and has since been lost.

Day #4, Video #1: "King Kong vs. Godzilla 2: Kong's Revenge"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M038CpRY6Jo

The first of two "clay-figures on a string" fights, this video was (Or so I believe) intended as a sequel to my extremely biased first KKvsG animation, where Godzilla does actually win. I'm actually not quite sure about the sequel bit. There exists an earlier dated, alternate render on my computer without the film's subtitle, so you could consider this to be first remake, with the sequelitis being tacked on at the last second. Oh, and 'Klay Kong' looks as equally derpy as his cartoon counterpart.

Trivia: This film introduces my second most favored song in 2007: Beethoven's Infamous 9th Symphony

Using time travel, I managed to convince my 2007 self to create this juicy little piece of movie making just for you, Chris.

Postby Space Hunter M » Mon Jun 25, 2012 7:53 am

Day #5, Video #1: "Godzilla vs. Rodan"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poYAOeR6ALA

The second string battle. Incidentally, the music is actually by Koichi Sugiyama, me in 2007.

Day #5, Video #2: "Baragon model"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iT_QbS1Y6A

Fangly anorexic looking Baragon. Here's another angle of the thing:

The stop-motion ones are really enjoyable.

Hah, I remember those clips  I used to mess around with Windows movie maker also as a kid. Shame that Microsoft ditched that for "Windows Live Movie Maker".

And oh yeah, Live Movie Maker does suck. No timeline? What kind of an editing software does that? Thank goodness I'm with Vegas 10 nowadays.

Day #5, Video #3: "Godzilla vs. Hedorah poster"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E4LW7fh6SQ

Another pointless still photo upload. Not much to say here, except that Godzilla's the same one from previous videos.

Trivia: I had no idea fellow Stupid Mario Brothers fan hiimjenki commented on this one. This was before his first account was terminated. hiimjenki and his termination are mentioned at 09:37 in this RMA FAQ video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MWmOxm8P3g
