So these are just for fun or does he want a career in filmmaking? Just curious.

My husband likes to dabble, he is a true artist, not wanting to be tied down to any one medium. That being said, the both of us are already make a living off our art, but we keep those details away from the internet fandom. Because as you can see in this very thread, we want to avoid the highschool like popularity contest clicky BS that tends to happen. My husband doesint like to brag because frankly, he doesn't need to.

Ok so these are just for fun then. Yeah, that's cool.

I don't see any "popularity contest" stuff in this thread though. I see critiques of his work and to be honest, a lot of it to me seems to be beginner level as far as shot composition, pacing etc. But what I do find to be quite obvious, and this shines through, is that he has a genuine love of making these films which should be commended. I did like the puppetry (not the puppet themselves) skills. The movements were pretty well done I thought.

I think taking a class or reading Bruce Block's "The Visual Story" will do wonders for his filmmaking skills. It'll be a night and day difference.

So he's trying to start a career in filmmaking? If not just for fun, what's the goal?

In his defense, it was explained kind of vaguely. I guess what you mean to say is, yes, there is a desire to continue down the film path - possibly even professionally - but in tandem with other artistic endeavors?

He doesn't share the belief that "professional" equals level of talent, (just ask Micheal Bay) and I agree with him. But like I said, we both do just fine with out "level" of "professionalism" as artists.

Uh. Okay. Cryptic. No, that's true though - the only thing that really defines a professional is getting paid for one's work, which generally requires a certain level of skill to achieve.

Well, guess Chris and I are both pros with skill then.

Nothing cryptic here.

So why bring it up? It's like this:

Person #1: "I have a job where I make very good money!"

Person #2: "Oh? Congrats! What do you do?"

Person #1: "None of your business!"

She wasn't entitled to answer as to what forms of art they do. Personally, I'd like to see more, but only if they so choose to show me. They can be as secretive as they please.

Still, that sort of secrecy is a little strange. Most artisans I am acquainted with may be secretive about their projects, but not the actual trades they engage in. In fact, they're typically pretty open and extroverted about them. I'm not saying they're wrong for being secretive, it's just understandable that Chris55 would find that behavior a little strange.

Glad to see genuine critique from fellow students of film and filmmakers is regarded by professional artists as nothing more then "popularity contest clicky BS".

Artists truly prosper when they disregard criticism and make their own work in a bubble, after all.

Yeah, honestly... hearing about his new project, I was kind of interested in giving it a watch... but this whole attitude of hers is kinda turning me off of it.

If you can't take a bit of criticism, stay off the internet.
Don't try to be something else. Don't try to be less. Great things are going to happen in your life. Great things. And with that will come great responsibility.

If you're interested, no harm in giving it a try.
