VERDICT:
Desghidorah is pretty tanky, as Mechagodzilla can dish out some powerful attacks. The Mega Buster is on par with Godzilla's own ray and the Plasma Grenade amplified by Desghidorah's heat based energy weapons are gonna hurt quite a bit. It would be quite a long battle, but in the end I see Mechagodzilla prevailing. There's really nothing Desghidorah can do to put Mechagodzilla down for the count.

Wasn't this match made before? But yeah, SMG wins due to large weaponry and energy-absorbing armor. Desghidorah will give him hell(literally), but SMG should tank his attacks long enough to win.

Blunt trauma can do wonders. You know, the same blunt trauma that nearly killed Mechagodzilla when Godzilla was stomping on his head and smacking him with his tail?

And there is one, nearly foolproof way Death Ghidorah can win this. The Fiery Prye Road. Mechagodzilla isn't exactly airborne 95% of the time like Mothra, so there's a good chance that attack will cause him to sink right into the fiery depths of the planet.

Yeah SMG wins, he's got large weaponry and most of Desghidorah's attacks are heat based, so i see SMG prevailing eventually

How exactly is Desghidorah going to inflict blunt trauma? If it starts making its way to Mechagodzilla, MG will just hover away. Same with the Fiery Pyre Road, the things takes awhile to get anywhere giving SMG time to just hover somewhere else.

Uhuh. And MG hovered away when Godzilla started towards him? Nope. And as for the Prye Road, it's not the flames MG has to worry about. It's the crevasse, which is a fairly fast and unexpected attack. And if it connects, it's game over.

Mechagodzilla's only real weapon here is the plasma grenade. Death Ghidorah could tank weapons like the Megabuster ray quite fine, and the shock anchors wouldn't last long even if they manages to get past his armor, due to DG's pulse attack. On the flip side, if DG gets in close and grabs MG, MG is in big trouble. And then there's that Prye Road...

Super Mechagodzilla was in the air the ENTIRE battle with Godzilla, hes probably going to do the same as well. Fiery Pyre Road isnt going to be a factor. Also, DesGhidorah's pulse wont work if the Shock Anchors connect, as he was upgraded to be resistant to it.

I might add that its silly to think that SMG will just sit there and let himself sink into the fire- if it even hurts him due to his NT-20. And blunt trauma didn't stop SMG, mind you. It injured him, but you forget he got out of it.

I can imagine Super Mechagodzilla takes this with a combination of unleashing all lasers/missiles and flying just out of range of Desghidorah's short-ranged attacks, all the while absorbing those the creatures unleashes from its mouth.

You forgot the Hells Fire. Its definitely hot enough to melt the NT 1 diamond Armour. And even if SMG hovers above the ground
he didn't exactly levitate very high.

Desghidorah can probably get some wins by tackling SMG, since they weight about the same and SMG sucks at melee. If a less heavy Godzilla could dismantle SMG by physical hits, Desghidorah can definitively replicate the feat. I also don't think Mechagodzilla will be able to use the Plasma Grenade since it absorbs radiation and Desghidorah doesn't use that, he's an energy vampire. Luckily, SMG is not a living being so the energy vampire thing shouldn't affect it.

SMG is going to take this in the long run. DesG's best opportunity is to fly on top of SMG and smash him to bits and fire point blank range to insure maximum damage. Otherwise, SMG is just going to stay back and hover circles around DesG, opening fire with everything he has. And I believe (IMO) that SMG should be able to absorb the heat based attacks DesG throws out, and with that he'll Plasma Grenade DesG back top hell.

Based on what? SMG has ever been stated to absorb heat? The guys seemed pretty custom-made to beat Godzilla, it just happens that he also faced another radiation powered enemy on Fire Rodan and he seemed to do decent against both.

It's stated in the first 20 minutes of the movie when talking about his powers. He didn't absorb Godzilla's and Fire Rodan's rays because they're radioactive, he absorbed them because they're hot.
