^ That just reminded me. Isn't 2012 the year of the dragon?

....

Originally Godzilla represented just the nuclear bombs but films like ROG, GvB, and GMK have over the years also make him represent war and man's mistakes in general.

Ghidorah is basically the personification of insanity and as someone else said "the end of life", death.

How a golden three headed dragon represents death and the end of life is beyond me. If anything, Death Ghidorah (Or Desghidorah) deserves that title since he actually looks like some kind of demon or bringer of destruction.

While I more or less agree, I would like to say that I don't think the original Gojira was meant to simply evoke the nuclear bombardment. The dragon represents birth and death in the eastern mythos. Godzilla is, at heart, a dragon, inducing death and birth. Death of the old ways and a birth of the new world. I could argue that Gojira is the birth and death of a modern Japan, all hinging on a horrible, deadly, nuclear bomb...

To be fair Showa King Ghidorah DID destroy several worlds so to those worlds he was death and the end of life. But that could easily be said of any creature with the potential to become a planet killer level monster like Hedorah or Destoryah.

I think you're over analyzing just a bit ;)

I'm sure if the kaiju represented anything Toho would have said so.

Every review I read of the movie claims that Biollante represents the folly of genetic engineering and or tampering, like in a Jurassic Park sense.

But King Ghidorah has actually done it, has a huge reputation for doing so, and in G fan circles is the quintessential planet killer. Heodrah and Destoroyah are just exceptionally powerful monsters, even if both do represent something as well.

Except Showa Ghidorah is kind of a puss. He's a coward, there's no getting around it. People always give Gigan a hard time about it even though, Ghidora's track record is much worse, and his beatings weren't really as bad as Gigan's. His fighting skills are lacking as well.

It always takes two monsters to repel Showa King Ghidorah though. The films make it clear that in a one on one match he could kill Godzilla or Rodan, but he always ends up fighting them together.

Yeah I think they sort of mishandled Ghidorah's badassness in the Showa flicks.

Showa Ghidorah has never taken a serious beating. At all. The worst beating he received was in "Gigan", and by Showa standards it's really not that much. The later Showa Godzilla could have handled Ghidorah just fine.

Yeah Goji pretty much won that fight on his own.

Rodan and Kumonga would win this match if they cooperate well together as a team. Ghidorah is the only monster with a beam weapon and Mach 3 flight, so those attributes can be used against the duo. Ghidorah's superior speed would impair that of Rodan's, but it could be slowed down my Kumonga's web. Rodan alsohas the strength and durability to ram into Ghidorah and knock him down to the floor. On ground, Ghidorah would be assualted by Kumonga, who would have no problem dishing out pain. While Kumonga does this, Rodan could pin him to the ground by patrolling the air. In the end, the duo have a good chance of winning.

Kumonga and Rodan: 8/10
King Ghidorah: 2/10
