Except that the Smilodons could just as easily overwhelm the Gorgonops. The Future Predator did just that in it's battle against the Gorgonops.

He certainly didn't do that against the Future Predator, so it won't matter here against two creatures that are around the Gorgonops' size and could bring him down easily.

They may not be as fast, but they're quick enough to avoid the Gorgonops' jaws long enough to get at his throat.

That would be hard to get is throat, because to get it they have to get pass is jaws and take him down

With two of them, that won't be much of an issue. Really, the Gorgonops can't defend himself from the sides that well. The Smilodons can easily take advantage of this.
