Giant Ape Vs. Robot Fights Head To PS3 When War Of The Monsters Is Re-released

Sony Computer Entertainment has two more PS2 classics lined up. War of the Monsters and Bloodrayne 2 are on deck according to Korea’s Game Rating Board, which rated both titles.



War of the Monsters is a Rampage style game where giant apes wrestle with giant robots and a homage to Godzilla rumbles with a golem. When you get four players together, War of the Monsters is pretty fun to play especially if you’re a fan of campy movie monsters.



When Sony passed on publishing Incognito Entertainment’s game in Japan, Capcom picked the title up and brought it to Japan.

Ah, War of the Monsters, I remember this being on the PS2 years back and rented it from blockbuster. Sadly I wasn't able to enjoy the game for more then twenty minutes before the game stopped working due to an overload of scratches damaging the disc.

But now, its being brought back from the grave and its a PS3 exclusive as well (Kinda tragic since none of the 360 users who don't know about the game won't be able to enjoy it. But if they still have their PS2 then everything should be fine.).

Can't wait for this! Ultra V FTW! I wonder what the trophy list will be like...

I don't have a PS3, and will always stay loyal to the PS2 version, but this looks like it could be cool.

Do they have a release date for this I can't wait. I wonder if you'll have to have the new twisted metal data to unlock Mecha Sweet Tooth in this version.

It's just going to be a port of the PS2 version. No updated graphics, no new monsters, no trophies... None of the PS2 classics on PSN are any different from their PS2 counterparts, the only difference is the older version comes on a disc.

Personally I'm still excited, I mean think about it. People who enjoyed WOTM on PS2 back then, most of them most likely do not have a PS2 anymore, and probably do not have a working copy/or no copy of the game in general. I don't have a PS2 anymore, and I don't have a copy of the game. Sure, there's ebay, but why go through all of that when you can simply wait for it to be on the PSN, buy/download it there, and play it on your PS3?

Yes, it is disappointing that we're not getting a SOTC/Ico re-release treatment with no new monsters etc. I guess this news is more for the people who enjoy WOTM, but no longer have the PS2 game and no longer have a PS2, but want to play it on their PS3. Anyone who still has a PS2 and this game, well, nothing to see here.
