I'd definitely like to see Dixie Kong in the game in some capacity. I always thought she and Diddy would make a cool Ice Climbers-style team.

K. Rool would be cool too. His different appearances definitely lend themselves to different special attacks and costumes. His final smash (assuming those come back) could be summoning KAOS.

I would like to see Ridley (Metroid) and Shadow (Sonic The Hedgehog) although if they put Sonic in again probably they will
put Tails on it. Krystal (Star Fox). Shulk (Xenoblade).
Unstoppable Fury , Unthinkable Power , Unbreakable Will.

I still want Alex or Pious from Eternal Darkness. With Snake gone they can fill in the M for mature role, the game is exclusive to the Gamecube so they don't have to spend money on a third party trying to get them, Alex has a sword melee and can use her guns for long range or the Enchanted Gladius for a projectile, Pious has his staff and can use that shockwave spell for range, they both can use the achrine arts for their special moves and their Final Smash moves could be them summoning one of the ancients to attack everyone on screen.

I thought they can't use Eternal Darkness characters due to them being own by Silicon Knights and no Silicon Knights longer works for Nintendo?

Nintendo is the publisher and they recently renewed their copyright for it so that could mean they are gonna make a new one for the Wii U or port the Gamecube game to the Wii U. Now I am no expert on copyright laws nor do I claim to be but I'm sure if Nintendo wanted to port the game or make a new one or just use some of the characters for SSB4 they would still have to strike a deal with Silicon Knights.

Also Silicon Knights said they want to revisit one of their most requested games and ED has a pretty decent cult following. Though it could all be just a coincidence. Damn it.

What else has Silicon Knights done besides Eternal Darkness? I know they ported Metal Gear Solid and finally released the underwhelming Too Human... do they have anything else to their name? It'd have to be Eternal Darkness, wouldn't it? It'd make sense, considering Nintendo wants to grab "hardcore" gamers with the Wii U.

A quick look at their wiki page shows they've done some PC games way back in the day, a few licensed titles (an X-Men game most recently) and Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. That one was kind of a big deal, wasn't it? I'd say it's either Kain or ED.

Eternal Darkness ruled, so I'd love to see more if it in the future, and it'd be an awesomely weird addition to the (mostly) colorful, family friendly world of Smash Bros.

Speaking of creepy shit in Smash Bros., I want the Brinstar Depths level from Melee back! I LOVED that one, and was super sad to see that not only was it not included in Brawl officially, but there was no way to really rebuild it in the stage creator either. Don't get me wrong, I had a BLAST with the stage creator (easily made over 100 levels), but I'm hoping they bring it back for 4 and enhance it.

Hmm. If it's namco bandai we may be able to see a .hack character playable(highly doubt it. but hopeful).
Apparently SWTOR said that I can invite 25 people for a 7 day trial of the game. PM me if interested.

I expect Kazuya or Jin from Tekken to be guest characters ;)

Surprisingly from this news, the SSB fandom seems to be somewhat split, half are interested and curious, others are upset and nervous, thinking it would be as badly constructed as brawl. For me personally, I'm curious and interested right now lol

Can you link me to the fans that are split?

Its within the link of my original post stating that Namco was developing this game. Underneath the picture of Sora, there's a lot of comments in general so you'll have to go through a decent number first. Happy hunting though.

Brawl was fine, and anyone that seriously has to refute that is butthurt because their precious meta strategy was ruined.

I'm approaching this with caution. Interesting results will happen, yes, but there are some interesting shock sites, too.

There a LOT more awful comments tearing at Brawl and Namco an hour ago, it seems that the mods have cleaned up the comment section somewhat.

I must say that the splitting is actually happening everywhere, granted it is expected, but many fail to realize that the brawl team was a team made from scraps. There was no firm team already set and settled to go, constant developers went in and out, servicing their talents before leaving off. Hell, Nintendo didn't even bother giving Sakurai the team he needed to originally launch Brawl off the ground. In fact, Nintendo barely helped at all when it came to developing the actual game, and helping with finances when it came to hiring developers and help obtain the tools needed to get things done. Sakurai and his loosely made team had to work with whatever they could get, and whoever they could tap in. With all that in mind, fans should give Namco a chance, they could surprise people.

MORE NEWS

Super Smash Bros. 3DS And Wii U Being Developed By Tales, Soulcalibur, Tekken Staff

By Ishaan . June 21, 2012 . 9:59pm
Nintendo have published a message from the designers of the new Super Smash Bros. games for the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. As previously reported, the game is being developed by Namco Bandai in collaboration with Smash Bros. co-creator, Masahiro Sakurai.

Sakurai will be directing the game as always, and overseeing the project. His message follows.

Sakurai’s message:

Hello, I’m Masahiro Sakurai, the director of the Super Smash Bros. series.
It’s my personal belief that the only time a creative product really resonates is in that first moment when it’s actually in front of you.
With that said, I’ve realised that if we keep the new Super Smash Bros. title’s development structure secret, it’ll only create more and more speculation, and I won’t be able to develop the game with any freedom. That’s why I’ve decided to announce this news right now, even though it’s still very early on.

I would love to provide more information, but for now, I’m going to stay quiet until I have something solid to show you.
The project has just gotten started. Bear in mind that not only are we developing two titles simultaneously, but we announced the project before we even started actual development, so I’m afraid we will likely have to keep you waiting for quite a while. Please be patient.

Currently, the prototype prepared by NAMCO BANDAI Games and NAMCO BANDAI Studio’s special team looks pretty good, and it’s working great. In order to take advantage of the fact that there will be versions for two different systems, and to maximise and offer fun new gameplay elements, the entire team is going to work hard together. Thank you.

And now, the second message, which is from Masaya Kobayashi of Namco Bandai games, who are developing the new Smash Bros. game.

Kobayashi’s message:

Hello, everyone. I’m Masaya Kobayashi of NAMCO BANDAI Studio. I’m so honored to be able to join the Super Smash Bros. team – that globally popular series of which Japan is particularly proud – and to work alongside Mr. Sakurai.

In order to make Mr. Sakurai proud, we will take on this project with NAMCO BANDAI’s best staff! Yoshito Higuchi, the producer and the director of the “Tales” series, Tetsuya Akatsuka, producer and director of “Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs.,” the art director/sound director of the “SoulCalibur” series, the main development team staff from the “TEKKEN” series…and that’s just for starters.

All the top creators from NAMCO BANDAI are gathered here to create a never-before-seen dream team for this project.

We will fully utilise our experience and knowledge in action/fighting game development, technical capability, and organisational strength, and we hereby promise you that we will develop the best and most powerful “Super Smash Bros.” titles ever! Don’t miss them!

I have a strange feeling that Nintendo just wants this churned out for the money's sake...

Still, hoping for the best. Sakurai is still involved.

How many guest characters should get this time? Brawl had two and they should keep it around four. I would say the choices should be:

1. Pac-Man (He is Namco's mascot, he crossover with Mario before and he was in Street Fighter X Tekken)

2. Jin

3. Sonic (He is popular and fans did like him in Brawl)

4. Megaman (He was one of the most wanted 3rd party character in Brawl and he was also in Street Fighter X Tekken too)
