3rd Xbox in works?

I don't think it will happen. I still won't be surprise if this happen with music since more people seem to buy music of from Itunes instead.

I mean, what if something happens to the console? Like gets destroyed, or stolen, or skreeonk inevitably conks out? Wouldn't that mean, I mean besides buying a whole new console of course, you'd also have to re-buy all of your skreeonk games? Yeah, that won't make people foam at the mouth in rage at all, no sir.

Well THAT problem would at least probably be addressed by more content being saved online. They're already treading those waters with Cloud and the small space allotted to each profile account. But all of the issues with not having a disc drive (so you can't watch your physical DVDs, etc) remain far as I can tell.

Anonymous source mentions that the third Xbox might be called "Durango" and it might be release sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas for the 2013 Holiday season.

I don't believe it until it's official. I also think that Druango sounds like a terrible name in my opinion.

My friend showed me pictures of a possible design, and I looked it up. This is what I got. (Picture included)

He also told me heard from a couple sources that the name will simply be "The Xbox"

Durango is probably just another code name for the new xbox.

It would a marketing disaster to not have the Xbox name somewhere in there.

Nope. If there was no discs, games you purchased and downloaded would be tied to your account. So if you got a new Xbox, when you sign in it would display all the games you own. All that remains is to download them again. Steam basically does the same thing.

honestly, I think they should just make 2 new systems. The Playstation and the Xbox. NOT PS4, or XBox 3. No numbers in the title at all.

Have them backards compatible all the way back to PS1 and Xbox. and instead of coming out with new systems every few years, just make a huge patch that will cost like $20 every few years that will allow for more graphic capability and so on.

I am tired of buying a new system as soon as it's cheap enough and finding out a new version is coming out the following 6 months.

It doesn't really work that way. First of all, what made the new playstation 3's so much cheaper and smaller is that they cut the PS2 compatibility. Quite literally, they took out the hardware needed to run PS2 games. Now, they can use an emulator, but emulators are a lot more resource demanding than just running the game itself.

And you can't upgrade the graphical power through a patch. Graphics comes from hardware that needs to be replaced. Console games are highly omptomized to get the most out of a specific hardware configuration, which is why you need an emulator or backwards compatibility to run games from previous generations. PC games are made much differently in that they are designed to work on a very broad combination of hardware configurations, including future hardware that hasn't been released yet.

The Playstation would be a bad name for the PS4 since that's the name for the original PS1/PSX. I still like the 720 title for the third Xbox.
