Ehhh Sony will leave it in the dust a year after release like the other PSP, then they'll let Capcom take care of it for a couple years, THEN they will remember they made a handheld gaming system and start advertisements for it again with a funny black kid, I forget his name, but he's hilarious.

The Hardware

Sony confirmed many of the features of the PSP2 that we've already heard in the form of leaks, rumor and speculation. The PSP2 features a high-resolution, touch-sensitive OLED screen that's larger than the original PSP screen, tilt-sensitive SIXAXIS controls, dual analog sticks, front and back-facing cameras, and a touch sensitive back panel.

Sony boasts that the new PlayStation Portable is as powerful as a PlayStation 3. The device features built-in WiFi and 3G wireless connectivity and uses an all-new form of media storage for games—no more UMD.

Here's how Sony describes it: "NGP adopts a new game medium, a small flash memory based card, dedicated for NGP software titles. Taking advantage of the flash memory feature, this innovative card can store the full software titles plus add-on game content or the game save data directly on to the card. By adopting flash memory based card, SCE will be able to provide game cards with higher capacity in the future, allowing developers to store more game data to deliver rich and immersive games."

For now, Sony is officially calling the new PlayStation Portable by its codename, Next Generation Portable or NGP. It will be out this holiday in Japan.

The Games

Sony showcased a handful of games alongside the reveal of the new PSP, including new titles Little Deviants, Reality Fighters and Gravity Daze, plus games based on the following PlayStation franchises.

* Hot Shots Golf

Sony says the new PlayStation Portable will also play PSone games supported via its PlayStation Suite platform and will be backwards compatible with downloadable PSP games. To demonstrate this, Capcom's Jun Takeuchi demoed Monster Hunter Portable 3rd for the PSP on a NGP.

Third parties have shown demonstrations of Yakuza 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4 running on the system, with Activision announcing a Call of Duty for the new PSP.

NGP is the code name for the PSP2, the system is the successor to the PlayStation Portable. No release date yet, but the system is rumor to have priece around $300 or $350.

Yeah I can see the 3DS doing better, they have the 3D gimmick on their side as well as price

It's still a gimmick, and people are gonna want it, just like the Wii and motion control when it was first released

Anyone else finding this a little hard to believe aside from me? This is making me go "seriously?"

It does 3D without glasses the top screen has two screens slighlty off, so your brain thinks its seeing 3D actually all 3D is like this just this piece of epuipment is glasses free.

PSP2 looks interesting as soon as I get more tech details I'll make a prediction, I was after all 100% correct on my 3DS price and launch.

PS3 Portable? Lol I'm mostly sold already.
But I would rather wait for a while, to see if any other games makes it onto the NGP.
Especially any fighters. But so far, everything looks promising.

Eh I wouldnt buy it. With todays games being visual hot messes on the screen, Id go blind trying to play it on a PSP or PSP2.

I'll stick to whatever console I got and wait for an iPad with 300GB or so and working Emulators.
