DOOM
Hey all. Didn't see a thread so figured I'd make one?
Been a fan since I picked up Doom3 back in the day. Scared the living piss out of me. It was the first horror game I ever played and I was like 10, then tracked down Doom and Doom II on PC. Man. Miss those days.
Anyway, I made this thread with the news of the official announcement of Doom: Eternal at E3.
What do y'all think? Fan of Doom, Doom II, Doom3, Resurrection of Evil, Doom 2016? Looking forward to Eternal? Not a fan at all? Sound off!

Re: DOOM
I’m not sure which one it was, but I have great memories of playing DOOM on PC on my dad’s lap. This would have been late 90s sometime? Anyway, it was my first experience playing any video game.
Never had much connection with the franchise since then, although I looked into the most recent one a bit. It looked insanely fun. Might have to pick up this newest one and join the party for the first time since I was potty trained.

Re: DOOM
I've been playing Doom from 2016 and it is highly worth the money (think it's $20 now).

I haven't even started the last one yet. Got all wrapped up in Xenoverse 2 and now Monster Hunter World. I just haven't taken the time yet.

Re: DOOM
Admittedly I only started with this series when hype was drumming up for the 2016 one. Still only played that and Ultimate Doom (haven't finished the "Thy Flesh Consumed" episode yet, though). I hope I can catch up by the time this comes out because this looks like everything I wanted in a sequel to the sublime experience that is Doom 2016.

Re: DOOM
I'm sure you guys heard about the latest debacle from Bethesda, right? That's right, they done skreeonked it up AGAIN, this time by locking Doom 1-3 behind a Bethesda.net account. Of course, they claim it was an "accident", but then again, they also claim that them delisting and removing the games from people's XBL and PSN accounts was a mistake, err, "glitch" as well, so I don't buy that poop for one second. They didn't like the uproar and backpedaled, simple as.
Oh, and speaking of uproar, the memes are rolling in! "A Bethesda.net account is required to view this tweet" ROTGDFLMMFAO!

Re: DOOM
I've spent the bulk of the last two days playing Doom Eternal. Holy poop is it a thrilling experience! If you struggled at all with Doom 2016, prepare to get your ass handed to you. Every fight is a high-speed, adrenaline-fueled endurance match. To be honest, I've only died a few times, but I come out of every big battle feeling like I've been brutalized.
I think this might be the hardest game I've ever played, just in that it requires your full attention 100% of the time because enemies can drain your health in seconds and you've consistently got a dozen of them coming at you all at once. I genuinely would not recommend this game if your reflexes and aiming skills are even remotely sub-par because the experience will be non-stop frustration if you can't keep up with it. The other thing that makes Doom Eternal incredibly difficult is that you frequently run out of ammo, unlike in Doom 2016, where I ran out of ammo maybe once a playthrough; in Eternal, I'm lucky if I only run out of ammo once a fight!
In summary, this is probably the most intense, fast-paced FPS game I've ever played so if that's your thing, you'll love it. It's the good kind of challenging where the combat is gripping and victory feels rewarding. But if you're used to slower FPS titles like Halo and the older Doom games, prepare for a big learning curve.

The sea has cobalt, it's full of mercury. Too many fumes in our oxygen!
All the smog now is choking you and me. Good Lord, where is it gonna end?
Got to get it back, someday. Got to get it back, and soon now.
For tomorrow maybe you and me...
We're movin', we're movin', movin' to the Moon now!
It's up to us to make a choice.
We know what it's worth to save the Earth!

I got my copy yesterday, it's going to be a tough one beat which is probably a good thing seeing what's going on.
Had shoot at 64, that really fun game.

Re: DOOM
Played Eternal, haven't finished the campaign or started MP, but wow, i haven't had this much fun since Halo 3. The mechanics are so fluid yet classic, the maps are art in themselves.
If Doom keeps this momentum going, we could be seeing Doomguy replace Master Chief as the gaming icon military badass with green power armor.
