Nintendo Switch

Postby LSD Jellyfish » Sun Oct 08, 2017 3:22 pm

I know this is a console and not a specific game, but I'm curious who here has the console. I feel like the switch is a really special console due to its portability and how you can dock it. It gives a lot of life to indie games, and third party games I would not otherwise play due to its accessibility. I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for me.

Right now I own:
Breath of the Wild
Mariokart 8 Deluxe
Dragonball Xenoverse 2

I'm curious about some indie games, namely Axiom Berge and Stardew Valley.

It has none of those nonsensical motion controls (for the most part), controls really well, and has WAY less wires so it's very easy to pack up and take with you. I'm a fan. It just doesn't have much to offer that interests me at the moment. One of my brothers introduced us to it, and we quickly got addicted to MK8 Deluxe. We even tried it with just the Joy-Cons - they work well, but are so small! A little too cramped to play with comfortably.

I have one and I think its a decent system. I just have BotW on it right now but will probably get MK8 Deluxe at some point and Mario Odyssey for sure, not at launch but I will get it down the line.

I just hope we get a traditional animal crossing game for it which we probably will since Nintendo seems to like to do that series for their handheld platforms.

I recently picked one up myself, and I have to say, I really like the little bastard. The screen is good, the current game library is quite good, and the "portable console" vibe really works in its favor.

Unfortunately, I only own one game, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. On the upside though, it's fun as hell, especially the 200cc races. They're just so gloriously chaotic!

The only real complaint I have is the buttons on the Joy-Cons. The Joy-Cons themselves feel just fine, but the buttons... they're just a bit small for my taste, and take a bit of use to adjust to. Other than that, though, I'm really looking forward to what the Switch has in store for the future.

I like it a lot, on the fence about buying one. The concept is executed incredibly well, I'm just not sure the games are there yet for me personally. BotW is obviously a masterpiece but I don't know anything else yet I'd want to buy. Mario Odyssey will probably be very good I guess, but everything I've seen so far is... weird. And not in a Mario way. I want to hear more about the upcoming Metroid and Pokemon, those may tip the scales for me.

Also... let's see a new STAR FOOOOOOOOOXXX!!!!!

I'm upset they released that and not Mario Kart 9. I already got this game for the WiiU and thoroughly beat it and was looking forward to a new Mario Kart (been buying every game since I bought the first for the SNES way back when). But to just re-release the same game with a few new characters and tracks (which could have been simply DLC for the previous game) was a huge letdown.

I'm sure down the line there will be a MK9. I had MK8 on the Wii U but barely played it, and I know many people that love MK but never got a Wii U, so to them it's their first time. I'm glad they ported it because now I'm playing it more than I ever did and really love it.

I've had The Switch for about a month and loved it. While I've exhausted my two big games (Mario Kart & Zelda), there's so many upcoming titles I'm excited to have on a handheld, with Mario Odyssey being my most anticipated game in a long time. I'm also looking forward to Doom, Resident Evil Revelations, Rocket League, WWE 2K18 and whatever the Yoshi and Kirby games end up being. I know a lot of those are ports, but they're great games, and the idea of carrying Doom around on a handheld is really exciting.

One game I've squeezed a lot of fun out of is Double Dragon IV from the eShop. I don't understand the criticism its received, if you were a fan of the Super Nintendo/Sega Genesis incarnations then you'll enjoy this hilariously dated "new" one. It's cheap, and by far my favorite digital purchase so far.

I'm pretty meh on the whole system. I wanna play Breath of the Wild but I don't know if it's worth $300+ for the damn thing. Metroid Prime 4 may make me change my mind so I'll have to see.

300$ is nothing for a portable system of this caliber. I'll tel you I have 120+ hours in BOTW, and that alone is enough to validate the initial splurge. There's far more expensive gaming related things you could buy.

I just got Mario Oddessy and boy is it amazing. It plus BOTW make the system, even before you consider the other fun stuff the system has and the future releases.

I picked up Mario Odyssey today and it's the first time I've touched my Switch in months. But I must say, that game has definitely delivered so far.

BTW, does anyone here own a pro controller? I really would like to get one, but I heard that they have really bad d-pads.

I really want to pick up Mario Odyssey but I have so much on my plate right now I'm going to hold off. Its in my top 5 games to purchase though or maybe I'll ask for it for Christmas.

I have 5 or 6 games coming out for PS4 next year. So a Switch is the least of my priorities right now. Still I'm always open to a new console if enough games come out that I'm interested in. Right now all I care about is BotW.

I wonder what they’ll announce. I’m sure they’ll also brag, justifiably, about the conseoles success. Since this last thread posting, I’ve thouroughly enjoyed a lot of indie games like Stardew, Sonic Mania and a few others. I actually have a large backlog of indie games I want to play, plus some of the Wii U rereleases, but there hasn’t been another Super MARIO Odessy type game announced.

Here's my predictions for tomorrow's Direct

-Metroid Prime Trilogy Switch release
-Wii U title Switch port, I'm think Smash Bros or The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD/Twilight Princess HD
-Animal Crossing Switch title as well as a 3DS title
-Release date for Hyrule Warriors Ultimate Edition

Twilight Princess and Windwaker are both rereleases themselves so that’d be a bit redundant. Smash Bros seems obvious, but at the same time it’s actuakly been a while since the last one came out, so why not just make a new one for the switch? And Metroid already got. Aprile trilogy. Maybe I’ll be wrong, but I just think other than Pokémon 3 everything from the Wii U on the switch is already there.
