The Sonic The Hedgehog thread

Post by LegendZilla »

To be frank I am surprised that there isn't a thread on these forums dedicated to this pivotal gaming franchise. Because of that, might as well kickstart one myself to discuss with you people.

Which Sonic games are your favourites? Also, what would you like to see in from what future has in store for the series? Fill me in.

Huge fan of Sonic the Hedgehog! I take my username and two of my signatures from Ivo Robotnik, greatest mad scientist of all time.

My favorite Sonic games are S3&K, Sonic CD, SADX, SA2B, and Sonic Battle. Also a big fan of the British comic and the two anime.

I'm looking forward to the much teased 2016 Sonic game the official SEGA social media pages has been hinting at. Also the movie that was announced a while back, although my expectations aren't very high.

I like the franchise aside from the shitty ones (Sonic Heroes through Sonic '06, as well as Sonic Boom), but I tend to stay out of it because the majority of the fanbase is cancerous little kids.

My favorites are Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic Generations.

M-
MOVIE?
Oh boy.
I don't really care whether it's good or not, I'm just bracing for the shitstorm of kids posting poop from the movie EVERYWHERE.

Looks like the new game is Generations 2.0

How's this for an idea to re-vitalize the franchise :

A game that serves as a re-telling of the first couple of Sonic games from 1-3 as well as Sonic CD.

We already got a game literally just like that.

Sonic Generations.

Not quite. It was more of a homage to the classic era.

And a remake of S1-3+CD isn't?

I'd rather see the franchise build on the elements of Colors/Lost World that worked, or give us a new Adventure style game, or otherwise grow beyond just imitating the Genesis era. The creators want to innovate so badly, they just need to find an innovation that doesn't screw up the game.

I'd say a good name for my hypothetical Sonic 1-3+CD remake would be Sonic The Blue Hedgehog. Anyone else have ideas for what it could be like? What more details could they add to the plot and characters? For example, what circumstances will Sonic first meet Tails under?

I've heard there's gonna be a big 25th anniversary game coming out this year (that isn't Sonic Boom), and apparently it's gonna be revealed at E3.
I'm down for this if it's a good game like Generations, but with how iffy the series has been in the past few years I wouldn't get your hopes up.

It's not Generations 2, it's something new.

I saw a Modern Sonic and a Classic Sonic. That looks like a Sonic Generations 2 to me.

Wild guess - it'll be a brand-new game utilizing the concept of Generations, opting to use totally new levels as opposed to remaking old ones this time around.

Really digging the style of that Sonic Mania, though. The nostalgia goggles were strapped on tight for that trailer

It's not Generations 2 though, seeing as they said it wasn't. The tagline implies, to me at least, that there's more than just classic and modern (would they really risk Boom though?) Maybe the return of multiple playable characters?

Versions of Sonic from the TV shows and comics, perhaps?

^That's intensely unlikely, especially given all but the Boom continuity are ancient history by this point.
