Official Sid Meier's Civilization Topic

Postby Bret » Fri Jul 13, 2012 11:53 am

Well I bought the 2k strategy pack from amazon for $20 that had Civ 5 GOTY,Civ 4 Complete collection and the complete Stronghold collection. Downloading Civ 5 currently. Civ 5 will be my first game of this type. I figured I couldn't beat the price of this and I doubt I would see Civ 5 GOTY go much lower than $20. So Anyone else play these games? I've been getting interested in CIv 5 since people who makle the Civ games are making the new XCOM game.
Apparently SWTOR said that I can invite 25 people for a 7 day trial of the game. PM me if interested.

As do I. Civ V the only video game I regularly play these days, aside from Halo: Reach. It's pretty fun, though can be frustrating sometimes. The A.I. is so damn stupid you need to give it economic advantages so it can compete, and because of that it can usually beat you to a Science Victory/crush you through sheer numbers in the late game. Which gets old.

So is the Gods and Kings expansion pack any good? Religion sounds interesting, and the A.I. is supposedly improved. If anybody's played it, is it worth the thirty bucks?

That review their gives a pretty good run down of what to expect with Gods & Kings. If your not willing to pay $30, just wait till the next Steam sale and it should be around $20-$24.

^ Okay, thanks. I'm slightly annoyed that the A.I.'s tactics aren't any better, but at least the big-picture diplomatic interactions are improved. More happiness sounds useful, too; that can be a pain to deal with in the base game. So it looks good overall, and I'll be getting it ASAP.

I'm not sure if you would be interested in this or not, but the firaxis guys are making a new XCOM game. A demo just came out on steam for it today.

^ Nah, Halo is pretty much the only shooter I need. Thanks, though.

? XCOM:EU isn't a shooter. It's a Turn based strategy game. Your thinking of the other XCOM game coming out next year.

^ Oh. Well, then Civ is the only strategy game I need. I'm not all that much of a gamer, really. I have a few favorites I play pretty often, but don't usually go out of my way for new ones.
