I'm thinking of putting down $90 to get the console on release but some are saying Ouya might be a scam.

It's not a system where your going to be able to play Borderlands 2 or Call of Duty. It's basically a console that plays games that are playable on a Android Smartphone.

Those articles articulate the reasons I am cautious about the Ouya better than I can.

Asuming it is not a scam, I think it has chances to succeed. If it is available to anyone, and it does have games that for wathever reason people will want to play (Like a multiplayer), it will sell.
