If we can stop this, please:

Yeah, Family Guy seems to have pretty pointless filler in most episodes. I don't understand how someone just doing the exact same thing over and over again is funny. It's just stupid and pointless.

Usually if it's a topic of a movie or show I don't like, I don't post in it.

Anyways, I like the show but I usually wait until for the DVD's for new episodes because of uncensored jokes and topics, which is a pain considering how Fox releases the show on DVD. For the most part I watch it on TBS or synd. if it's a episode I really like or there's nothing on. I really like the Brian and Stewie centered episodes myself.

I know the show gets a lot of hate, but I find it hilarious. Beats out South Park, American Dad, and Futurama by a long shot.

I prefer American Dad for my dumb entertainment, although I do like this show. Never got why some people take it so seriously.

Oh well. To each their own, I suppose.

Everyone cuts it off at Season Three now, and I think that shows how fashionable it's becoming to copy the same complaints. Nobody complained about Seasons Four or Five when they were airing, and when Season Six came around (which in my opinion is the worst of the lot) suddenly the last two seasons also sucked.

With all of these animated shows, there is never a solid consensus on the last great season. Even on The Simpsons, people will give you completely different answers for when it stopped being funny. South Park's last great season changes every year or so.

^Agreed, SG.

Now, to my opinion. I've seen a few episodes of Family Guy on TBS. I'll admit, some of it is funny (the episode where Peter makes their house a country is good) but I can't stand watching most of it. Brian and Stewie annoying the hell out of me is my main reason, but maybe that's because I don't know much about them. American Dad gave me reasons to like Clouse and Roger: Clouse had his brain transplanted in a goldfish body and Roger's the Area 51 escapee. Maybe it's because I've never tried to like Stewie and Brian, but in all the episodes I watched (again, not many) they never hinted at the reasons. Maybe that's the point? The randomness? I don't know, but I'll stick to American Dad for now.

Personally I have no idea how anyone could hate relatively developed characters like Brian and Stewie but love Roger from American Dad. I mean, I do like Roger, but he's such a deplorable, sociopathic character.

And Stewie was fun when he was a homicidal baby bent on world domination, not a closest gay baby.

I hate Brian and I think Stewie's funny, sure sometimes he acts gay, but he's still being a baby.

I love Brian and Stewie from the first three seasons, because they were just really funny characters. Brian was the voice of reason who could also be a funny drunk, while Stewie was a evil baby genius. ...Then season four came around and the characters changed for the worst. Brian was no longer the voice of reason, but just a way for the creators to get their political views out to people, even though they had American Dad to do that. Stewie was no longer a genius of any kind. Now he's just a gay stereotype. Apparently, the creators think that a gay baby who has a "thing" for a dog is funnier then a baby who wants to take over the world. Beginning to see why I hate this show so much?

Roger from American Dad is funny at times, but for the most part, I find him more annoying than anything else.

How's Stewie a "developed" character? He's just one gay joke after another.

Like I said before, I know barely anything about Brian and Stewie. Is there development in them? I'd like to know, because I don't know.

See, the thing is, he's not. There have been episodes where they DID focus on that lot, but that's not the entirety of his character, nor have they really done a lot of that sort of thing the past few years. In fact, if anything, they've tried to go back a little to what Stewie used to be like by focusing more on his relationship with Brian and his inventions such as his cloner, his time machine and his teleporter. How often do you even watch the show?

To be honest, the original "Damn you vile woman! I must complete the device!" Stewie of the first season or so gets on my nerves. There's really nothing to him that early in the run aside from his Bond villain voice and desire to kill his mother and rule the world. IMHO, Stewie only began to get interesting when they stopped doing that played out shit and experimented with him more.

It WAS hilarious. At first.

It's a one-note personality. How far can you really go with something like that? When you watch the first four episodes and notice the pattern of each story and how Stewie was used (Peter does something stupid throughout the episode and at the last minute a device Stewie had been working on the entire time ends up being the deus ex machina that saves the day and returns the show to the status quo) you see right off the bad that they really didn't know what to do with him. The instant they started to let up on that Stewie started coming into his own, began forming relationships with other characters and began getting his own stories. I mean, since Stewie can't REALLY kill Lois and can't REALLY rule the world how long could that shtick keep going? You need to take a gimmick character in new directions or you end up with Klaus.

Hell, I was enjoying the late season 2 and season 3 more well-rounded Stewie (gay jokes and all, even back then) long before the show came back from cancellation.

I like Family Guy. It's a funny show--a lot better than most sitcoms on TV. Brian and Peter are my favorites. :]

Dunno why people have such strong feelings about a cartoon sitcom, though. If you don't like it don't watch it. That's how I handle garbage like the Big Bang Theory. 8-)
