I finally saw this this week. And it instantly went onto my "favorite films" list.

Rorshach is one of my all time favorite comic heroes. Still behind spidey if you ask me though.

I am buying the book next week.

Graphic novel is good, and so is the movie, though everything else I've seen from Zack Snyder is trash. Though I still haven't seen Lord of the Hooters or whatever that owl movie is called.

The film is good because of the source material it's based on. Watchmen's story is that good that its sort of hard to bungle it if you do a faithful enough adaptation. That being said I hate Silk Specter's acting, the soundtrack is just off putting at times, and the slow motion is uneeded.

Without Rorschach, the movie would have sucked the left one.

I personally enjoy Watchmen and the director's cut was much better. I can see why people didn't like it but I think the ending work well for the film. It help create the fear of God for the people living in the film since people look up to Doctor Manhattan as a god. The squid in the movie would feel out of place for a lot of people if you ask me. The graphic novel is better but the movie is still good. The movie did poorly at the box office since they market the movie as a action film and that the movie got mixed reviews from critics.

Yup
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2250&hilit=watchmen

Graphic novel was good until the ending.
The movie was good all the way through. The movie's ending - turning Doctor Manhattan into the force to unite mankind IMO is more appropriate to the feel of the story then a genetically created psychic chimera.

Owlman is my favorite.

Owlman

What the hell is wrong with you people?

I did enjoyed the movie, but the novel is superior.

Mitchal stop acting like some shallow mellow drama ass teen. It's called a typo, something you yourself have done on countless occasions.

Not a matter of liking someone more than Rorschach, it's the fact that the character's name was wrong. Nite Owl, not Owlman.

I do like the movie, but Zach Snyder's slow-motion fetish really does get annoying after awhile. And whoever played Silk Specter was pretty lousy.

No a typo would be indicative of hitting the wrong key. That's flat out typing the wrong name.

Owlman is an alternate evil version of Batman from the Crime Syndicate
Nite Owl is the character from the Watchmen inspired by the original Blue Beetle.

It's hard to take one's commentary on a series seriously, when they get the name of major character wrong. Now admitted Mitchal was a little strong, but he has a valid point. Also admittedly Flaming qualified he wasn't really a big Watchmen fan, so his getting the name wrong is explained anyways.

Also Melodramatic is one word, just saying.

Now my thoughts,

Watchmen as a novel is highly overrated like most Moore stuff. But it's still really good, just not the most golden comic ever made. The movie however, oh man that soundtrack REALLY hurts it. I remember during the sex scene, me and my friends were dying with laughter. I get what they were going for, but what they got was corny.
The action scenes were good, but suffered from the usual Synder overuse of slow-mo.
As for the ending, I didn't mind the lack of space squid, to be honest. On the whole, I think the comics are better, but the movie was still a cut above the usual Cape Popcorn flick.

I'm happy that this movie was made instead of the Watchmen movie plan in 1990 or 1991. I remember reading the script for that movie and was bad. The movie feel like it going to have a tone similar to Tim Burton's Batman and the 1990 Dick Tracy movie. That movie was going to have Rorschach live as well.

Glad to see somebody’s got my back.

Edit: Also, I love to imagine the countless mothers who brought their children to see an R rated film because "superheroes".

I had a friend who watched an entire birthday party run out of a theater at "Lesbian whores"

Watchmen is one of my favorite movies and I'm with the OP. It jumped onto my favorites list after the very first viewing. I've only seen the director's cut but have seen it a few times by now. Really wanna see the ultimate cut or whatever it's called.

My dad saw this at Big Lots and bought it because it was only $3 and since we both dig superhero flicks, we thought we couldn't lose. Especially after all the rave reviews we heard about it.... Yea, it was not anything either of us enjoyed. Very depressing, very twisted and a complete perversion of what superheroes should represent. The "Comedian" was no better than the creeps they tried to hunt down and deserved every bit of the death he got (in fact it should have been his leg the dogs were chomping on). Doctor Manhattan was interesting until he had his opium-induced "revelations". Really the only character I gave the slightest damn about and who wasn't a complete abomination to the superhero title was the Night Owl. My dad gave the dvd to me because he didn't want it in his movie collection and honestly I don't care to have it in mine either.

I love this movie, but it's SO DAMN LONG! Especially the directors cut. I hear that there's an even longer version.

The Director's cut is amazing. The theatrical cut is the worst and the other cut adds nothing of interest.

Zack Snyder is a hack. I can't believe he's directing the Superman reboot.

I thought the CG for Doctor Manhattan was well done. I don't know why some people got upset that he was CG when making him CG was the best idea to make the character work.

Movie was poo city. Overrated as hell, almost much as 300 and that's only because nobody quoted it in real life.

I'd probably like it even less if I read the comic first.
