I don't think the problem is that we watch too much Seth McFarlane, but that there is just too much of Seth McFarlane in existence. Seven Seasons of American Dad!, Four seasons of The Cleveland Show and Ten seasons of Family Guy on channels like Cartoon Network, Fox, TBS, etc. Even if you don't like Seth McFarlane's work (which I don't anymore), he's still everywhere.

You can try to avoid him, but you'll still run into one of his shows while you're channel surfacing one night.

Also, I don't pirate anything, nor do I own any DVDs of his work. I only like to own copies of movies/tv shows that I actually enjoy.

I'll admit, I have a huge crush on Mila Kunis, especially after her role in Black Swan. But, from what I can tell from the trailer, having her present doesn't make the film any better.

Like I said in my first post: No amount of Mila Kunis's ass will get me to go see this.

Seth should just stick with TV from now on. This is going to be horrible.

Ted sounda way too similar to Peter Griffin.

Seth shoulda just used his regular voice.

It is.

I'm just going to say that Seth doesn't have a FULL choice on the matter when it comes to the similarity in setup between shows. When Fox courted Matt Stone and Trey Parker in 1997, they turned down South Park because they felt comedies should be about families - mind you, the only comedies Fox had in 1997 were The Simpsons and King of the Hill, the latter of which had yet to premiere. (That and they hated Mr. Hankey.)

So Seth isn't recycling material completely over his own fault. In fact, I'd say the real problem is his lack of focus - he has three programs on at once, and this multi-focus is hurting his involvement. He only really reads lines for American Dad! anymore and The Cleveland Show is really ran by Mike Henry, not Seth. Not to mention, Seth's also making The Flinstones and TED, so it's obvious his better material isn't going into his existing stuff.

But you'll be pleased to know American Dad! is probably on it's way out within the next year or two. Fox has been very quiet about it lately. TCS is sticking around and Family Guy I think will end after the current contract - Seth admitted months ago he feels like it should end he's doing a movie and stated a long time ago his desire was to transition Family Guy from television to movies at some point.

All ideas decay over time.

I agree with GXG: Why the swearing? Why the obscenitity? Jus to court in dopey teenagers who get to use the F-word for the first time in public, and don't care what other people think about them.

God, to think I used to be in those people...*shudder*

Meh some people here are too young but Im around Seth's age. So are a few other members. We cuss alot. We didnt cuss for the giggle-giggle-tee-hee! reasons. It's just how I (and others) spoke growing up in the age of 80s and 90s action flicks.

That doesn't make swearing funny though. The trailer was trying to make it's audience laugh by having the swearing teddy bear, when it just isn't funny. You gotta have something more to it than just a swearing teddy bear for that to be funny, otherwise I just tilt my head in confusion at Ted.

People find Family Guy funny. People find Seth McFarlane funny. These people, and some others, will find this funny. I find it funny because a teddy bear normally isnt acting like a mid-30s foul mouthed lazy no-direction bum.

You just dont find it funny. This is very similiar to Paul (2011) with the CGI talking alien voiced by Seth Rogan. THAT was funny and it made oodles of money.

I loved PAUL... haha.
Don't try to be something else. Don't try to be less. Great things are going to happen in your life. Great things. And with that will come great responsibility.

And I feel very sorry for those people.

No, the concept behind Paul is kinda funny. This isn't funny. Paul works for two reasons. One is the casting of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who are always funny together. The other is that, oddly, the concept seems kinda realistic. I can believe an alien coming to our planet, watching lots of television, and thinking that it's okay to be foul-mouthed and incredibly vulgar. He's studied our culture to the best of his ability, and he's just going off of what he's learned. That's one of the things that made that movie funny.

This is not the case with this movie.

First off, I never said that my opinion was the "correct" one. All I said was that I don't find Seth McFarlane funny, and that I feel sorry for those who do find his work funny. If you think that there's any hidden context to that statement, like a sense of superiority or that I'm putting down anyone else who disagrees with me, then you're sadly mistaken. I always welcome other opinions, because everyone has the right to say them. If you like Seth McFarlane's comedy, then good for you, and I mean that. I'm going to disagree with you on his comedy, but I'm not going to put down your opinion just because it differs from my own.

Second, there is no such thing as a "correct opinion". Opinions aren't right or wrong. Especially when it comes to something like this. This is no "correct" opinion for Seth McFarlane. There is a majority opinion, but that isn't the "correct opinion".
