Marvel Films Talkback Threads #1: Red Sonja (1985)

Postby Hellspawn28 » Mon Aug 16, 2010 11:29 am

Inspired by the AVP talkback threads (Credit to Tyler for the idea), and with the hype of the Avengers coming soon. I thought doing a talkback thread of Marvel films will be a good idea. For now I'm going to do the popular ones not the Serial, Television, and Animated films. I'm going to start with Marvel's first theatrical movie release with the most recent ones like "Iron Man 2" (2010). I'll try to make one once or twice a week.

I never seen this film, and I only seen parts of it. From what I have been told that that this movie was pretty bad. What do guys think of the movie?

Up next: Howard the Duck (1986)

I haven't seen it, but isn't it connected to the Conan movies starring Ahnold?

Yes since Prince Kalidor was originally intended to be Conan in the movie just like in the comics IIRC.

I've seen it, and it's basic sword and sorcery yarn. There's not much to make the film memorable.

No, it's not. The movie is NOT officially connected to the Conan franchise. Hence why his name was changed.

The comic book series is a spin-off of the Conan comic books/magazines.

It does have slow parts and honestly the villain is a bit lame. She can barely hold the sword when fighting Sonja at the end. It is no where near as good as Conan the Barbarian or The Destroyer.

Another comic book related topic made by hellspawn, what a surprise. *Awesome face*

Yeah, I've never seen the movie and I see still to watch the sequal to conan but want to know what really fails about this movie? Red Sonja's Costume. How the hell did they mess that up so badly!? RAAAAAGE!!!

Well, hopefully the reboot will be able to do this costume properly:

That and not suck. :3
A proud supporter of just leaving Alienhulk's opinions of films alone and a butthurt non-supporter of the man of steel topic who won't post there until it's merged with the other superman topic.

I can't remember since I have not watch the review in while. Going by his review the movie was so boring, and I think I will rather watch the second Conan movie (Which was awful) instend.

I thought it was ok. Just ok. Not as good as the Conan films which were to be part of the continuity but for some reason not as mentioned. However, when I was 12 I enjoyed the film and from a recent viewing, there are some parts that make you cringe but other than that, it's pretty ok. Saturday Afternoon material.

Oh Conan the Destroyer dwarfs it. The fantasy elements in Red Sonja are small scale compared to the Conan ones. I blame copyright for that. It's not on the same teer as Krull, Wizards, Conan, Dune or Excalibur as a fantasy film. But it is better then Scorpian King 3 and Krull.
