From Movie Viral January 23, 2012:
Loud Noises Possible Viral For “Godzilla” or “Cloverfield 2″?
Caleb Hamilton wrote:Sometimes strange videos hit the web and create an uproar. We’ve seen things from UFO’s hovering over football games to a man sawing a parking meter in half. The latest strange video making the rounds compiles footage from around the world in which a loud, mechanical sound is heard. Could this be viral for Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla reboot, the rumored sequel to Cloverfield or something else entirely? Check out the video after the break.

If this were viral for a film, I’d guess it would be Godzilla. Godzilla’s roar is very mechanical, much like the sounds in the video. It could also very well be viral for Cloverfield 2, but unlikely since J.J. Abrams has just started production on Star Trek 2. There is also the chance that this could be a very elaborate hoax, possibly trying to scare those who believe the world will be ending this year.

From Fans Share September 13th, 2011:
Lizzy Caplan to star in Cloverfield 2?
It has been suggested that Lizzy Caplan is being lined up to once again star in the sequel to the hit 2008 movie Cloverfield, once it gets the green light. It was uncertain whether she would appear in Cloverfield 2 after her character was dragged off and never seen again in Cloverfield.
However, it has been claimed that, since her character was not officially killed off, she would be set to appear in Cloverfield 2. It is not yet known how the story to the sequel is going to play out, so it is unclear how her character would return for the movie.

One thing is for certain though and that is the fact that Cloverfield 2 looks increasingly more likely to be made, especially since the movies original star seems interested in making a return. The bad news is that there is no idea yet when the movie will get the green light, so it looks like a long wait for Cloverfield 2.

From Fans Share June 23rd, 2011:
Cloverfield 2 set for 2014
After making over $46 million in the US on its opening weekend and grossing an impressive $168 million worldwide, it was clear that a Cloverfield sequel would be made. The sequel is, as of yet, untitled but the script has been written and the project is in active development, with a release expected in 2014.
Production company, Bad Robot have taken the film on and it is believed that Matt Reeves will once again direct the film. It is also expected that J. J. Abrams will return to produce the sequel but a cast for the movie has yet to be assembled.

The first Cloverfield movie centred around a monster attack in New York, which was filmed from the point of view of a group of friends. J. J. Abrams latest movie Super 8 is currently being show in cinemas in the US. It is due to be released in the UK on August 5.

Cloverfield is a fantastic film, I would enjoy a second one.

Cloverfield was a GREAT American monster. I just hope they dont do like Blair Witch and make an actual movie.

Cloverfield 2 would rawk if it were perhaps some scientific team searching for the Clover species and finding them and running like bitches with shakey cam.

Good movie, horrible monster film. The film hyped itself up to be a monster horror film and instead came out more as a drama. This time round, they need to ditch the found footage and just make a normal film. If they do that, I think it'll come out as a better film.

I don't even see reason to believe that that's a viral. Just seems like a video some guy uploaded.

Writer Drew Goddard says he's ready to go, buuuuuuuuuuttttttttt it's a matter of getting all the parties, Matt Greenfield and J.J. Abrams, in the same room at the same time with their hectic schedules.

that had better not be a video showcasing the new godzilla's roar, cause that sucked.

sounds like a guy recorded the sound of a boat pulling into harbor and put it over random videos of the sky.

I loved Cloverfield. I found it a very unique giant monster movie in how it focussed on the people trying to survive the creature's rampage rather than totally focus on the creature itself. This lack of focus on the creature made it quite frightening because you don't know what it would do.

I hope the sequel does get made! It will be very interesting to see if characters from the first film return finally indicating who survived or not. We already know Lily is the only known survivor thus far, not counting Marlena's 'supposed' survival as indicated in the reports above. And also it would be intriguing that this attack triggers more of Clover's kind to attack or a brand new kind of giant monster.

Cloverfeild was a gimmick that really only worked once. I've watched it, and have no real interest in watching it again. It's a lot like the Blair Witch Project.

I thought a lot of Cloverfield and have watched it many times. A sequel will be difficult to do but I'd like to see it.

I always thought that the sequel would work as a regular film rather than found footage.

Me too! I've thought of C2 as starting out with a table of military and political heads flipping off the screen (which was playing the footage that is Cloverfield, the 2008 film).

My "big idea" :dizzy: for the second flick was something along the format of such made for TV flicks such as Special Bulletin, and Without Warning. And the episode of GODZILLA:THE SERIES, "S.C.A.L.E.". All were done in the format of news broadcasts. All harkening back to the classic Orson Wells broadcast of War of the Worlds. Do the whole film in the format of a news broadcast starting off with the news of the destruction of the Chuai Drilling Station.(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quyy-QUGHpE) Speculation about the cause, the Tagruato Corporation's accusing the extremeist environmental group T.I.D.O. Wave for the sinking. Then coverage of the Coast Guard remaining mum about the incident, Clover's landfall. The military trying to deal with him. Then pundits on the news speculating what it is. Then the news of military planning its HAMMER DOWN operation when all else fails.
