If you aren't going to see the movie, how exactly is it wasting your time?

All thse stupid comercials for this crap wasted my time.

Those commercials are like, 2 minutes at maximum. I'm sure 2 minutes of your life isn't worth getting that much asspain over.

I hated it. But, I'm a Battle Royale fan anyway.

I thought it was pretty good. There were a lot of changes, but pretty much all were minor. I saw it as a good compliment to the book.

The movie was bloody awesome. Probably one of the most faithful adaptations I've read.

I really wanted to see it but never got to. Looks like I'll have to wait until August 25th if Redbox even gets it right away. If I like it I'll hold out and wait until all three (maybe four) movies get made and pick up a box set.

Not being a fan of Battle Royale is not the reason why I thought the movie was bad. The movie had no character development, had no back story, and I didn't care for any of the characters in this movie. Even if the book is better, I doubt I like it.

Yeah, I am. Since Louisville is Jennifer Lawrence's hometown(in fact, he aunt and uncle are good family friends of ours) there's a big deal about this movie coming out. Some places I think are holding midnight releases.

I'm going to Redbox it and see if I like it. The packaging looks pretty slick but if I do indeed like it I'd buy a box set after the series ends so it'd make little sense to invest in this.

Just picked my copy up!

Speaking of which, why the hell do they keep adding "digital" copies with all the DVD's nowadays? Just to justify getting extra money or something?

Redbox'd it this morning and finished it a couple of hours ago. It is a well done movie. Whereas Battle Royale has a social commentary to it, The Hunger Games has some interesting political elements, and arguments about whether or not it's conservative or liberal belie the fact that elements from both sides of the aisle exist, as well as some religious elements. The whole feminism thing really didn't exist IMO and really is just due to the main character. I don't view everything with a strong female lead as being feminist, but now I'm ranting. Back to the movie, the only real flaw I found was that Katniss and Peeta had little chemistry and overall weren't particularly interesting or developed characters. That sounds harsher than it really is, as I rate this 8/10. Forced to choose, I admit I'd stick with Battle Royale but critically they are easily on the same level.

I'd like to pick it up but I'll wait until all the movies are out to get a nice box.

How far is the Hunger Games takened to the future? I know there was a massive worldwide scaled nuclear war, and the US turned into a dictatorship, but I am guessing, at least the year 2100- to the above. Also is there any evidence concluding that there is another nation besides Panem? Also why is the Panem military so weak?

If the book is the same as the movie then I will likely hate it as much as I did with the movie? This movie was still pretty terrible if you ask me.

The book is pretty awful. It's like a watered down Battle Royale with Twilight thrown in. They even copied the two main villains from Battle Royale.

I thought the movie was more like The Running Man mixed with Twilight thrown in then Battle Royale but that's just me.

You're using the internet. Look it up.

Anyways, is this even worth renting? The movie looked like it had a twilight vibe judging by the trailer. I wasn't a fan of those movies. If it doesn't feel like a twilight movie, I wouldn't mind watching it.
