Slasher films
cheapie B movie monsters
cheapie B films in general
Japanese monster films

The comparison between those and the problems I have with Bay are minimal. I have no problem with a fun, silly movie. Bay just makes them in an annoying way, with sickeningly unfunny humor and self depreciation that takes the fun out of what's happening onscreen. The only time this sort of effort even semi-worked was in Bad Boys, where the buddy cop genre is better suited for his style. But when it goes over to something like Transformers, which has potential to be big, goofy fun, he starts to show potential with the concept...and then switches to Bumblebee taking a piss on John Tuturro or Devestator testicles leading to a reaction of "Why? For the love of god, why?"

I fail to see how your example even begins to compare to that.

That scene never bothered me. I thought it was funny. Besides no one ever complained when Herbie did it back in the day in the first LOVE BUG flick. Besides Bay never seemed all that pretentious to me. He still seems rather unapologetic when it comes to balls on the wall action in his flicks. Especially with BAD BOYS 2, in which a lot of films in the wake Columbine seemed to toning everything down, Bay didn't mind delivering an actual action flick. Also back on topic, INDEPENDENCE DAY FOREVER:Part One , will be devastating theaters on July 3, 2015. Although I'm hoping Smith/Captain Steven Hiller will make a return in the flick's end ala Captain Barbosa.

I'm not even excited for this, but Smith not being in it keeps my interest from being heightened.

Sure, everyone knows that Ironhide has always been black, Bumblebee has always been a camaro, and Optimus loves showing off his flames.

Well.. at least they got a few things right. Rathet's a medic. Green for some reason.

Well how would you expect real life giant transforming robots to look. They would certainly NOT look like how they did in the cartoon.

I don't really know of anyone who'd I like to see in the leading role, so Hemsworth is fine with me. Just give me Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman fighting aliens. That's all I ask.

Jesse Usher of STARZ's Survivor's Guilt has signed on as the son of Will Smith's character, Captain Steven Hiller(who won't be showing up in the flick  ) for the flick.

So this movie is actually happening? Seriously?

So this dropped.

Gotta say, the idea of the Earthlings adopting alien tech is a pretty cool idea.

Heck it has been near twenty years. Twenty next year. A bit of a wait for between flicks. Although I remember there was a nearly thirty year wait between Paul Newman's The Hustler and the sequel, The Color of Money. There was a novel entitled ID4:War In The Desert where after the aliens were defeated at film's end in the Middle East. The aliens find and raid one of Saddam Hussein's bio weapons labs, and plan to spread a virulent strain of anthrax across the world.
I can't help but be a little excited for this I must say. I was thinking today with all the big trailers popping up the last few weeks, we'd be seeing something now on this. Or we'd see something by the time the Super Bowl 5-0 hits.

Trailer looked surprisingly good, will probably watch... To my surprise though i'm kind of glad Will Smith is not in it. Dude has really become an ass in recent years. He was even the worst part in the Suicide Squad Trailer. I doubt he would have done anything for this.

That said, happy to see Mr Goldblum back! Hopefully it's as fun as the first installment!

I wanna hate this, but the original movie was part of my childhood. Hopefully this'll be a good junk food movie.

I wanted to like this cause I've been hating every movie trailer thats been coming out lately (with the exception of civil war) but this doesnt do anything for me. Whole lotta "meh". I did enjoy the original, but god, this just looks generic to me.

Unfortunately, yes.
