The name itself wreaks of studio interference. Seriously, the title is so bizarre especially when taking into consideration Batman Begins, the film that seems to have been forgotten by the majority of the populace. It literally seems like the studio said, "Hey, Nolan. We realize you wanna do another Batman movie and all, but can you please make it so people can realize that it's related to that last movie that made us a billion dollars? How about we just slap a nice little two on the end of the last title? Oh wait, this is your third movie? Um...We still want The Dark Knight in your title somewhere. Make of it what you will."
Really? Just from a title alone? No, from what I'm told whatever Nolan says goes for WB. They're letting him do his own thing and not interfere with it. But tell me what would you name it? The dark knight returns would be a big nono of the frank miller book ever gets made into a film and calling it the dark knight falls might spoil something.
