Marvel Cinematic Universe

Postby Tyler » Fri Jul 22, 2011 10:42 pm

With The Avengers coming up I thought it'd be nice to discuss/argue about the Marvel Cinematic Universe which sets up the massive superhero/comic book crossover. So far there've been two Iron Man films, a Hulk reboot, Thor, and Captain America.

Personally I'd rate em like this:
Iron Man
Iron Man 2
Captain America
Thor
Incredible Hulk

But it all comes down to this...
Image

After that it'll be Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Cap 2 and so on.

Im excited to see the new Avengers. so i would rate the movies like this

Iron Man
Iron Man 2
Thor
Captain America
The Incredible Hulk

though i like both Iron Mans, CA, and Thor, i thought the incredible hulk wasn't that good.

Whats funny is the MCU reminds me of the Showa Godzilla films how a lot of these other monsters had their own movies in they were brought in slowly and led up to "Destroy All Monsters"

Interesting

Japan has giant monsters and we have superheros

gotta love mythology!

Could of made a cleverer title Ty, like AVENGERS ASSEMBLE but no... you're lazy. :P

Iron man 2 I consider the best but I think I talked about it enough, so here's the list.
1. Iron man 2
2. Captain America
3. Thor
4. Hulk
AND IN DEAD LAST Iron man 1. :D

Iron Man is one of my all-time favorite movies, so yeah, that made me geek out the most you could say.

After that:

2. Thor - 4.5 out of 5
3. Captain America: The First Avenger - 4.5 out of 5
4. Iron Man 2 - 4 out of 5
5. The Incredible Hulk - 3 out of 5

When The Avengers teaser played at the end of Captain America, I have to admit I applauded as did the rest of the crowd. I'll be there at midnight should work permit me.

Easily TIH.

It's just a rung or so over Thor. I thought Natalie Portman just brought the movie down. I wouldve liked a more shady version like Strazincyki's Thor run.

TIH
Thor
Iron Man
Iron Man 2

Ive not seen CAFA yet.

Sandy Frank dubs. All others are fail.

I have to disagree, I really liked Portman in Thor. I thought she was believable and, above all else, actually likeable in the film. Kat Dennings on the other hand? Yeah....screw her. (meant in both a literal and metaphorical sense)

Of the films I've seen, I'd rate them this way.

Iron Man
Thor
Iron Man 2
The Incredible Hulk.

Haven't seen Cap yet. May be a while, given the money crunch we're in. Now, these ratings are a tough choice, because I've liked ALL of the movies. Iron Man edges out the lead with Downey Jr being the perfect cast and literally just OWNING that role. Hulk was drug down by that annoying performance from the chick who played Betty. Can't wait to see Cap, but, as I said, it'll be a while.

For me it would be:

Iron Man
Captain America
Thor
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2

All have been great films. Iron Man 2 was not as great as the first but I still enjoy it a lot.

:(

I like both Iron Mans but I feel the final fight with Iron Monger was much more satisfying than the one with Whiplash. He shows up in that cool armour and he's dead before you know it. There was more of a build up with the Hammer Drones and I feel it should've been the other way around.

It also would've been nice if it was Whiplash as opposed to some combination of villains...

I like the combination of the two, while I haven't read anything they were a major part in I still like the idea and while the fight had an anti-climatic battle it was still miles better then the iron monger fight. Snap, I went there again.

Also, do you REALLY want this number in the movie!? D:

Isn't Ironman just about out of good Villians? Iron-monger is covered and they scrapped two together from Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo...who are they going for now? Living Laser? Titanium Man?

Ironmans villain roster is kinda' lame.

Titanium Man would be IMHO the most logical answer. Basically the Russian equivelent of Iron Man but with substandard armor who still managed to give Tony a hard time.

They could even do an Iron Patriot. Doesnt HAVE to be Osburn. If MCU is heavily based on Ultimates, then Black Widow needs to turn evil.

Iron Man reigns supreme, but Cap is a close second. Overall, I'm pleased. There are no films in this universe I dislike.

Ranking:

Iron Man
Captain America
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2
Thor

Eh the way I see it when he first shows up he's Whiplash, but at the end he's Crimson Dynamo.

Mandarin? Fin Fang Foom?

This bothers me. They act like the new comics are better and just make jokes about the older stuff instead of trying to make it work in the story. Like the purple pants in Incredible Hulk...
