What. The. skreeonk?!?!?!

How in the hell do you advertise a movie that much for a select date then just push it 9 months when it's a month from release? Morons.

Wow they played TV spots and even had a big shit load of posters then push it back until March?! Too think I was looking forward to this movie and it look like it was going to be better then the first film from three years ago.

That is Hilarious!- I wasn't planning on seeing the movie anyway, although it appears better than the first, however I think the "We're gonna convert to 3D" is just a B.S. excuse because in truth, uhh.. "we didn't want to be #1 for a week, then get blown out by Spider-Man, Ice Age, and Batman in the coming weeks" .

Do they really think 2013 will be better? Sure an early spring release might have less competition, but I'm willing to be even with a 3D conversion, increased ticket sales wont make this film any more money next year, then it would in the battle of summer films this year. You know I thought eventually something like this would happen. A film gets delayed solely because its scared off by competition.- and now you know, and knowing is Half the Battle

*edit*

Shout! Factory planned on releasing multiple DVD sets with release dates based on the 6/29/12 date. I wonder if those will be postponed as well?

This honestly caught me off guard too. Really bizarre business move. I doubt this will pay off.

They should keep the August release date as they planned. They are likely doing this because the Avengers is making a shit load of money. I really doubt GI Joe 2 is going to break any records even with the 3D ticket sales.

I'm surprised the new date isn't January 2013. Most shitty movies are dumped in January. Just look at The Devil Inside, Red Tails and One for the Money. All three came out in January this year.

I'm pretty sure Paramount just made 90% of it's audience that wanted to see this movie made them completely lost interest. The June date was just fine and I doubt it was going to be over shadowed when the movie just got some good word of mouth at some test screenings from what I've been told.

I'm bummed. I was stoked for this.

I'd hardly call making 200 million overseas a sinking of the BATTLESHIP flick. Plus the fourty over here. But, anything would no doubt look puny compared to the bank the AVENGERS is making.

Wow. 200 million overseas on a 200 million budget. I'm impressed.

Studios only really pocket 40-60% of that money, if they're lucky, thanks to fluctuations in the dollar, distribution deals, the cut the theatre chains get (which is a lot more than they admit to), and marketing costs.

So, yeah, $240 million worldwide is at best around $150-160 million. It's a lot of money, but it's not the win it looks like.

I think Battleship would need to gross over 400 million if they want to make sequels out of it. GI Joe was lucky to get a sequel when it didn't do that great in the US and got awful reviews.
