Since Disney pretty much has a monopoly on the "Pirate Themed Family Adventure" market, why not have Legendary Pictures dust of Seventh Voyage of Sinbad? It could be like Pirates of the Caribbean with more monsters. I'd be so down for that.

Yeah! Sinbad is definatly one franchise I'd actually like to see remade.

It might be good, but it will probably fail with the new Conan coming and the Clash of the Titans series, so people will be sick of the Greek-styled monsters/hero movies. Plus two more Pirates movies, which make the situation even worse.

I'd rather all new Sinbad movies than remakes of the Harryhausen films. Since reboots are so popular they could just call it Sinbad or Sinbad the Sailor.

Calibos was half-assed in the movie. He had no tie to Perseus.

I want to see Toho remake some of their older non-Godzilla/Mothra movies. I'd kill to see a new take on Varan or Space Amoeba set in the modern age.

A new version of The Crawling Eye, done by someone who can do effective horror, good monster movies, and has respect for the original film. I think the crew behind The Mist would work wonders with a remake of it.

The Giant Claw would make for an awesome Mars Attacks-styled movie. I'd even give it to Burton if he promised not to fag the movie up like he has his newer movis.

And, of course, George Romero remake of Matango. Where it's good and spooky.

I wonder what a remake of Dogora would be like. That is one of my favorite movies, and good movies don't really need to be remade, but it would be interesting to see how they would do it.

I never saw it, but I just want a Doc Savage film in general along with the shadow but more on the lines of reboots rather then remakes.

Maybe this won't count as a remake, but a Top Cat movie. It'll probably CGI mixed in with live action like Scooby-Doo or Chipmunks, but if done like the first Scooby-Doo with a good story that'll be fine.

On the subject of a remake to CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON here are two things I found while perusing the World Wide Web. One link is a set of sketches by designer Tashiro Kiya for a planned mid-nineties remake.(http://www.elementalauctions.com/creature-from-the-black-lagoon.html) And another article by filmmaker and Gill-Man fan, Victor Salva, talking about the death of the original Gill-Man actor, Ben Chapman. I too feel that The Birds and Jaws are best left alone at this point in time, for reasons already given. Some movies despite their age are best left as they are. Others can be remade more for the modern era. It's all opinion though.

On to address some suggestions ...

Gorgo would be interesting to see, and maybe Creature From The Black Lagoon.

As I've stated on these boards, I think that's a great idea. The original Gorgo is a legitimate cult classic, but unlike, say, the aforementioned Jaws or The Birds, Gorgo is not some daunting remake to undertake. A new Gorgo could go down one of many paths though. Even a sequel rather than a remake/reboot could work since Gorgo and its mother both were very much alive. Maybe something stirs them up in the 21st century after disappearing beneath the surface for over a half-century. However, my support goes for a remake or reboot of some kind. One thing I want to mention is that I'd really filmmakers from somewhere in the UK to handle Gorgo. They probably better understand the mythos and culture behind it. It's not impossible for the Americans to remake it (we're all hopeful of a LP Godzilla, after all), but I digress.

I saw the trailer for the remake when I saw Green Lantern and it looks pretty boring.

Speaking of, I thought Green Lantern was under-rated to a degree as I personally enjoyed it, but if they're serious about a Justice League film to take on the Marvel alternative -and they are- then Green Lantern needs a redo in several years the way Hulk was rebooted in 2008.

The Giant Claw remake is interesting. Not particularly in favor of it myself, but I could be genuinely surprised.

I fully support remakes/reboots of some classic Toho films. A Mothra remake (in time) could be excellent given that her movies can always be used as a vehicle for discussion of environmental protection, greed, and other life lessons that humanity has failed to learn from over the years. A Rodan remake with Megaguirus as posed in that respective thread could be a hoot-n-holler as well. There's no doubt a Varan remake could lift Varan from relative obscurity to a solid contemporary film. Haven't really considered Space Amoeba much myself given that the movie is pretty also-ran in most regards, but again I could be pleasantly surprised. I cautiously support an eerie Matango remake. I think a quality redo of Yamato Takeru (itself meant to be part one of a trilogy remaking The Three Treasures and based on the old legends) could be looked into as well.

Looking outside of Toho, I'd also offer up 20 Million Miles to Earth. There are some obvious parallels to King Kong but from a totally different angle thanks to the alien monster. A remake that keeps the monster larger for a longer duration of the movie could be heart felt but thoroughly enjoyable. The Ymir needs a total redesign itself, however.

Another odd choice of mine would be a total remake of Planet of Dinosaurs, which I had the following idea for: how about a movie like this where humans are in a space ship but run into mechanical trouble and make a last ditch effort to live by dropping onto a nearby planet. They have to deal with the dinosaurs and other creatures (sort of like our friends on Skull Island in King Kong) and eventually survive. The last 10 or 15 minutes speeds up time and brings them into the modern age. We humans are originally from another planet! That calls into question all kinds of things, from our role in evolution to our DNA relationship to primates and other fun stuff that we can mess with in sci-fi movies. Still close enough to be considered a remake except much better finished.

Negadon. This mini-movie was pretty enjoyable and I was impressed by the animation considering what it is. A full length adaptation of the movie could be awesome.

Yongary. This may seem a peculiar selection, but honestly I think an action-packed South Korean monster movie would be a nice change in direction. No monsters dancing with kids or horrendous effects, but we could have a 2012 plot with a prophecy that the world rids itself of its problems when they become overwhelming. Unfortunately for us humans, we're that problem and the end of the world is not at the hands of a burning sun or anything like that, but a giant monster gifted powers from Earth herself (Battra-esque, no?). Yongary attacks South Korea, China, Japan, America, and other areas. Can the planet combine their forces to beat the legend of 2012? Seems like fun if we had this movie done well. Yongary would be a menacing and complete overhaul in design. I keep thinking a mean looking hulking 21st century Yongary would almost look a little like Bagan without the quasi-wings:
