It was shelved so he can make whatever he is making/working on now.

They should remake all 6 original Universal Monster movies, (Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolfman, etc.) Then have them all join up in 1 giant summer blockbuster-ish movie.

The Wolfman was remade last year and did not do very well at all as Universal hope for. A direct to video sequel was plan but looks like they are making a total new movie instead now. 20th Century Fox is making their own Frankenstein and they are making a 3D Dracula movie at the moment. I don't think Universal wants to remake any of their classic films at the moment.

Sounds like an interesting idea, but not something I hope for. Those are just a few more that don't need a remake. Remakes of entertaining classics like that tend to be...shitty.

But that's like the main thing about the original. Parseus goes on that long quest because of her. In the remake he barely even knows her. He has more of a relationship with that other chick.

Now that I've heard that I change my mind. I can't handle anymore 3D movies that aren't CGI kids movies.

His motivation in 2010 is to avenge the death of his family murdered by Hades.

In the original, Perseus sees Andromeda and falls in love with her at first sight and then gallops all over Greece acting like an idiot, killing things for his own selfish reasons.

2010 offered more complex plot points. Sure theyre not 20,000 fanthoms DEEP but theyre still better then the shallow plot of the original.

The Creature flick has been an off, and on again affair for well over thirty years now. It was on the verge of getting made with a script written by Gary Ross, the son of the original's writer. And Breck Eisner(The Crazies) in the director's seat. But due to a bunch of delays brought on by the Writer's Guild Strike put it on the back burner for the time being.

Sigh. The Creature is what Aquaman is to the Justice League, but to the original 6. Never gets any attention.

You barely get to know his family. You don't care when they die.

And bringing in Hades was stupid. Calibos was a better bad guy in the original.

Since Disney pretty much has a monopoly on the "Pirate Themed Family Adventure" market, why not have Legendary Pictures dust of Seventh Voyage of Sinbad? It could be like Pirates of the Caribbean with more monsters. I'd be so down for that.

Calibos was half-assed in the movie. He had no tie to Perseus. He was transformed by Zeus in the original for hunting pegasuseseses (?). He was transformed in 2010 because he threw Dinae and Perseus into the sea at birth over jealousy.

Awesome idea. I never saw it, only bits and pieces, but it would be a good candidate.

It might be good, but it will probably fail with the new Conan coming and the Clash of the Titans series, so people will be sick of the Greek-styled monsters/hero movies. Plus two more Pirates movies, which make the situation even worse.

I'd rather all new Sinbad movies than remakes of the Harryhausen films. Since reboots are so popular they could just call it Sinbad or Sinbad the Sailor.

Someone forgot the Perseus/Andromeda/Calibos love triangle.
