Well hopefully if it is going to claim to be a Mecha series, hopefully the Mechas will be in it for more than like 2 minuets per episode. The "Mission Impossibe" feel gets old after a while. We have a protagonist who has to keep a girl alive for some secret she has in her head, that she dosen't know about, and he likes to touch her boobs inadvertantly.

Sounds too much like so many other teen angst anime's. What ever happened to just plain awesome robot battles??

Greetings All,

In my attempt to purge as many VHS as I can and convert to DVD, I now turn my attention towards the 1990's Guyver 12 episode OVA series. I have had for years my VHS copies which I rented and copied for myself on VHS from the original US Renditions VHS.

However I read on the internet that when Manga Ent. Put these on DVD, that they removed the original opening sequence, redubbed some of the voices, and edited the last episode (#12) which makes it almost unwatchable. I just want to know from a source that perhps owns these DVD's if this is true? If no copies of the original version that US renditions released exist on DVD, then I guess I'll have to transfer them nyself, but I wanted to get any thoughts before I decide to purchae/not purchase the set Manga Ent. released on DVD.

I do have the Manga Entertainment DVDs, IIRC they did remove the original opening sequence and redub some of the voices. Can't tell ya anything about the last episode since I haven't watched it recently and I don't have the dvds with me currently. Honestly, I'd just go ahead and transfer them if your VHS tapes are in good condition or at least watchable.

Read the wiki article. Answer your question. Basically, episode 12 is the only difference.

If you can get ahold of the final VHS, just rip and encode the final episode and make it a DVD-R along with the special feature creds.

I only got into anime within the last couple of years. However I am VERY picky with what I watch and prefer anime that relate to giant mecha.
So far I've watched:

Neon Genesis Evangelion (Original Series & the Rebuild Movies)
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Eureka Seven
Star Driver
Blood+ (The only non-mecha anime I've watched so far)

I tried to get into the new anime Lagrange: Flower of Rin-ne, but after episode 3, I got bored with it.
I intend to watch the new Eureka Seven sequel series Eureka Seven: AO when it comes out in April.
I'm in the midst of watching Cowboy Bebop. I've seen it on and off in the past, but not in its entirety.
Lately, however, I haven't had much time to watch anime because of college mainly.

Snagged a copy of Dragon Ball Episode of Bardock subbed in 1080p.

Anyone seen this yet? I liked the animation in the last special but I think this story is skreeonk with canon.

Has anyone seen Chrome Shelled Regios? I've heard of it before, but never bothered looking into it. I saw the complete series box set at Best Buy today and was wondering if it's worth picking up.

I seen it with subs on Youtube, it's based off some spin off manga. I think it's alright, seeing Bardock as a SSj is cool but that's about it. I'm pretty sure it's not canon since it could taken place in an alternate time line.

I've also seen the new Bardock special. Was pretty neat but it sure does mess with the time line.

You heard about it from me, silly. I watched the first episode a while back and told you it's something you would probably like.

I've decided to re-watch some of my favorite anime.
I'm in the process of re-watching High School of the Dead, only 3 more episodes + the OVA left. Once I'm done with that I will re-watch the following series, probably in this order:

Angel Beats!
Heroic Age
Soul Eater
Darker Than Black
Full Metal Panic!
Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid
Code Geass(both seasons)
And last but not least, I will be finishing this off with Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

^Indeed. wrapping up ANYTHING with Gurren Lagann= BEST THING EVER. Nothing can compare to it's awesomness...

...though the Fan-made Touhou vids come really, REALLY close to toppling it over. This one in particular is really well made, and all the voices were done by ONE WOMAN.

Almost done with my Evangelion marathon. It holds up rather well despite budget issues, but I'm truly amazed this is what some people consider a masterpiece.

I'm going to make a point of watching Rideback through this week. I've had this show for a while, but just haven't had time to get around to it.

So I've been watching One Piece on Funimation's streaming site. It's actually pretty good. I wish more people would give it a chance, especially since 4Kids lost the license a long time ago.

I'm just not pleased that they skipped a massive chunk of episodes, at least on the site. Looks like I'll be watching subs for a while.

I just got tired of it. I stuck with the manga more then the anime. I like the manga artwork better (Im also the same with Dragon Ball Z ((before Kai)), Shaman King, FMA and Naruto). After awhile, it IMHO just got TOO complicated and I couldnt follow the characters. I stopped reading the manga right before Chopper.
