I have to get around to reading or watching Ranma 1/2. I've heard tons about it,but never got the chance to read or watching anything related about it. Also Anyone watch or read D.Gray-man? I haven't watched the Anime,but the manga is AWESOME. Allen Walker to me made clowns cool. I like Naruto too so your not alone Stuckey.

Speed, Astro-Boy, Goku, Sailor Moon, and lesser extent, Lupin, are the leaders of the anime swarm from Japan to America. It wasn't until Pika-fvcking-chu joined the ranks did Anime become more mainstream here.

But his slam on Macross. Macross 7 is the WORST Macross series EVER! E. V. E. R. This includes the horrible re-cuts of Mospeada and Southern Cross into Robotech!

@Bret - the entire series is SO MUCH FUN! The first "season" and first movie are so great. I love the music too.

1. EVERY Macross series/ova/movie except 7 and 0 have the following:

a. Horrid music that makes me want to tear my ears out.
b. Entire episodes that are NOTHING but stale and pointless talking
c. They have misleading previews
d. The pacing is ALWAYS horrendously slow
e. More number skipping (this is only in Plus, but you get the idea)
f. Bland characters except for the Vajra in Frontier
g. Save for the last episode of Macross Frontier EVERY battle in the series is either executed badly or doesn't last longer than 3 minutes.

2. Macross 7 was superior to the rest because:

a. Awesome music. Mind you I hated it at first, but after awhile it grew on me especially Power To The Dream, Dancing on The Planet Dance, Holy Lonely Night, and Totsugeki Love Heart. Mind you the Dynamite 7 music was rather weak.
b. The characters weren't as bland, in fact some of them weren't.
c. Protodeviln were awesome. Period.
d. Entertaining battles, some of which last a solid six minutes.
e. Decent pacing.
f. It expanded the franchise more by showing us other planets and more into it's timeline.
g. It's original. Seriously, how many times have you seen planet buster kaiju get taken out by rock and roll?

Sorry if I'm coming off as "aggressive", but I seriously do find most of Macross over rated and I figured I might as well justify my reasons while I'm here.

Are you a flash-n-POW! anime fanboy. You dont care about story - you care about guns, tits, giant robots, monsters and 2-D stereotypical characters. Opinions are one thing, but when your opinions are so totally off-base, theyre just ridiculous.

I suggest you stop trying to say anything is over rated, because Im 99.9% sure you havent seen ANYTHING you consider over rated.

Macross Do You Remember Love, Macross TV Series, Macross 2012 and Macross Plus are beautifully animated, wonderfully developed animes that some might not consider THE BEST! But they are considered widely PILLARS of the anime world

That music was horrible, every time Lynn, Sheryl, Ranka, and whoever that ghost women who took control of the Ghost X-9 (Eve I think?) opened their mouths I felt like I was rotting from the inside.

Yes, bunches of talk and babble that lead to nowhere.

"In the next episode we promise you this battle!" *sees episode and realizes that was the first 2 or 3 minutes with the rest being talking* That is EXACTLY what happened when I was watching them.

I care plenty about story, it's how you pull it off and the time it takes to make it is what determines whether or not it's any good.

Wataru, before you continue I'd like to point out that to some extent saying Macross is over rated pains me a little too. Why? It was made by friggin' Shoji Kawamori, the second best anime guy ONLY to Go Nagai.

You had Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball dubbed, no manga.
Then you managed from Ranma 1/2, Tenchi Muyo! and Anime Labs Dragon Ball Z
...and finally Pokemon! Which was despised by anime in anime circles who watched anime for story and art and not as a fad.

Rurouni Kenshin, Shinseki Evangelion, Weiss Krutz, YuYu Hakusho and Honou no Recca were the hardcore MUST HAVE! fansubs before US distributors flooded the market with ANYTHING animated from Asia.

Isn't there an anime that has kaiju in it? For some reason Ranma 1/2 comes to mind, but what I remember seeing of it in commercials, which has been years ago, doesn't seem like that's the one.
And someone throw out an anime for me to watch. Let's make it one that is beautifully animated. Doesn't matter what it is, I'll try to watch it.

Aquarion, Gravion, Gundam SEED, Ideon, Shin Mazinger Z, Big O, New Getter Robo, and Demon Lord Dante.

Isn't there an anime that has kaiju in it?

There are tons, mainly in the super robot genre.

I dont remember any regular kaiju in Ranma 1/2.

Anything Hiyazaki is beautiful: Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, Ponyo, Laputa, Howl's Moving Castle.

I recommend:
Big Wars, Venus Wars, Roujin Z, Wings of Honneamise, Windaria, Heroic Legend of Arslan, Black Jack and A Wind Named Amnesia (where my ID came from)

It happens IN REAL LIFE. If anything, skipping numbers freaking adds realism.
