So, I finally got around to watching the entire Haruhi series, including the movie. I loved it. The Endless Eight arc was tedious, to say the least, but I actually found myself getting some amusement out of spotting what was different in each episode. So even that wasn't a complete loss. And the movie was goddamn amazing.

Watched the second season of Darker Than Black. Definitely not as strong as the first season and feels a little vague at times. It's probably for the better that it was a mere 12 episodes compared to the first season's ... 24 plus an OVA? I think that's right. I actually like where they went with Hei and it was nice to see the characters back since I had thought originally it was pretty much just bringing Hei back. Still wish this series would've expanded more on elements of the show like The Syndicate and so on, which I hear is explained in more detail in the manga that was adapted after the anime. Seems like the second season was completed in a half-hearted manner. Still entertaining though.

The Haruhi series is a definite jewel of an anime. tis a shame the crew shot themselves in the foot with the Endless 8 arc... though the movie more than made up for it...

oh great, now i want a Ranma/ Haruhi crossover...
Hope... I will find it!

Finally saw Ghost in the Shell (1995) and it was something. Ever since I saw Akira a few years ago I wanted to check it out cause they were often compared. Well, I still prefer Akira but I'll probably have to watch Ghost again (it's not even 90 mins). I don't know about the story. When it ended I was like, "What?!" Not in a bad way though. I like it when something can surprise me like that. But on a visual level... no way. It's not ugly or anything but it has a TV-level look to it Akira does not. I wish more anime had lip sync.

I'm curious about the rest of the Ghost series so let me see if I got this right:

Ghost in the Shell - the one I've seen
2.0 - basically a Lucas job to the original
Innocence - sequel to the original

Stand Alone Complex - TV series not connected to the above
Second Gig - a continuation of the series
Solid State Society - movie based on the TV shows

I've also read about Laughing Man and Individual Eleven, but that's just the shows edited into movies, right?

I know nothing about anime so bear with me.

You basically got it right. Solid State Society can be considered the end of the TV series since it does actually wrap up stuff from the TV show.
Apparently SWTOR said that I can invite 25 people for a 7 day trial of the game. PM me if interested.

Thank you. What's everyones thoughts on the new streaming service Viz is going to be launching for the PS3 later this year called Neon Alley? http://www.neonalley.com/ http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/07/ ... ng-to-psn/

The shows they currently have planned are
NARUTO Shippuden
Tiger & Bunny
Inuyasha - The Final Act
ZETMAN
Lagrange - The Flower of Rin-ne-
Blue Exorcist *
Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan *

Vampire Knight
NARUTO
Death Note
Kekkaishi
Nana *

and they will be showing some films too like

Berserk: The Gold Age Arc I - The Egg of the King
Bleach the Movie
NARUTO Shippuden the Movie

They are still asking for suggestions. I'm just wondering from a pure anime perspective would netflix or crunchyroll be a better buy?

Tyler - GiTS will grow on you. But I suggest watching GiTS again and then INNOCENCE.

Also, if you like GiTS, check out Battle Angel ALTA (aka Gunm) and Armitage III

Well I watched Blood+ last week as I was bored out of my mind. Not a big fan. The show seriously drags on at a snail's pace far too often. Too many episodes that basically just amount to filler with the characters repeating the same boring conversations over and over.

Has anyone seen Towa no Quon (sometimes written out as Towanoquon or Towano Quon)? I watched the series more than a week ago but kept forgetting to post it on here. It was an okay series and had some nice action but a fairly weak story that lacked interesting characters. No idea if they will continuing the series on from the current six episode (45 minutes each) saga or not.

Random question:

Are there any giant monster anime series/features other than Neo Ranga? That was the only one I was really able to find. King of Thorn coming out next month looks like it has a giant monster in a certain sequence but is far from centered around it. I think Chrome Shelled Regios kind of works there as well, and there's stuff like Fafner that has giant mechs.

Cool. See how you like the other five episodes if you ever get around to it. :)

The King of Thorn movie is soon gonna be released on DVD and Blu-Ray here in North America by Q4 2012, which it's gonna be sweet, so you'll have something to look forward to Tohosaurus.

I've seen the first 3 parts of Towa no Quon. The fighting is pretty good but most everything else is fairly forgettable so far.
I recently watched Death Note, something that had been on my "To Watch" list for quite some time. Light and L are both very awesome characters. I loved the show and loved seeing how Light and L would try to outsmart each other each time. Unfortunately the show took a turn downhill once Near and Mello showed up. And that ending...WHY?!? Made me mad.

I've gotten into the Gon manga quite awhile ago, and I've been really enjoying it. I love the anime series, though it's a shame there aren't any English dubbed versions yet.

Yeah, once near and Mello show up it goes to shit. Light just becomes a typical power drunk villain by the end too. If you want to try out something different The same person who wrote Death Note also wrote Bakuman.
