Vulcan being destroyed - Rubbish!
Spocks mother killed - Rubbish!
Spock and Uhura are lovers - Rubbish!
The way Kirk becomes Captain - Rubbish!
Engine room looks similar to a modern day factory - Rubbish!
Kirk finding old Spock - C'mon man.
Kirk & old Spock finding Scotty - C'mon man.
Super Transporter - Rubbish!

I'll stop there - lol

The movie is entertaining, and I went to see it with an open mind, but I think JJ thought outside the box too much, IMO.

You just sound like you're upset over the new canon, those aren't bad things at all. JJ made a new universe, because adding to the old one would have just muddled the old canon. I like that he created a new canon, people get hung up over what is and isn't canon far too often.

Wrong.
Those are horrible, third grade, no talent plot points at best.
New canon is fine. As long as it's quality new canon.
But the list of new canon he presented are prime examples of the typical no talent hack writing we see every day on the SyFy channel.

The fact that so many fans bought into such horrible writing in this film proves that quality has no place in movies anymore.
The movie is one long cliche after another from start to finish. One over the top punch in the face after another.
It's relentless. And everyone loved it.

Everyone says they hate cliches. But the horrible truth is. When they are strung together in a huge two hour long pile. You guys gobble it up like candy and call it "quality" film making.
Transformers, Avatar, StarTrek, etc. are nothing but a long string of horrible cliche's strung together for two hours.
And you guys love every minute of it.

They don't use cliches in film anymore. Today's films ARE one long two hour cliche.

See the way some people act about movies it's no wonder they can't enjoy anything even when it's good. They're just so goddamn jaded.

Although nothing is known about the story of the next film, I think "if" (a big if of course) they were going to do a Khan story, Antonio Banderas would make a good Khan. I know many think of his more light hearted roles, but he can be serious if he needs to. That or more likely Abrams would find another "unknown" actor that could nail Ricardo Mantalbans performance. As much as people (even myself) can crtitisize the last film. I give them props for finding young unknown actors/actresses that really did mimic their predecessors well.
There has never been a "Scientifically Accurate" Dinosaur portrayed on any Television Show, Movie, or Documentary. Only what the human imagination can conceive, and I'm ok with that.

I wouldn't call it being a movie snob, I would call it telling the truth. Quality is rare nowadays. There is a lot of poor, stupid writing. Its like they are catering to the Jerry Springer crowd - white trash America. The Directing, and acting are just as bad.

That's fine and dandy. Bitching about it on a Godzilla message board... LOL. I also LOVE the bitching about its canon. Godzilla fans bitching about canon... that's an all new one right there.

See this is why people call you snobs, you use the word "Truth" impying a factual statement like "Germany Surrendered to the Allies on May 7th 1945", then proceed to spout your own opinions?

How is that not snobby? It belittles us, for just disagreeing?

Hey, kid, have you ever written a screenplay or directed a film? Are you paid by a media outlet for your opinon (I.E. - are you a movie critic) or at least have a degree as a journalist?

No?

I don't think having a degree or whatever means anything. I mean look at Roger Ebert.

Degree means more exposure to elements that will form an opinion.

Yeah but even with degrees, even though a person may be smart that particular field, doesn't mean that they're a nice person or make right decisions.

"nice" and "right decisions" have nothing to do with truth.

As I stated, I thought Star Trek was entertaining and I will see the next film. But in no way was it a great or very good film. I'm not trying to sound like a snob, but watch AMC and Turner Classic Movies. You will see quality films. Then watch some modern films. The modern films are lacking in almost every area.
